Here is some more shots of the rest of the tubes and chassis (Love the rust eh?):

Here is the new rear end:

Some axles that wont break
(They even come with a warranty against breakage!):

And the packmount with my newest idea of my paint I will use:

Yes for now it has a 6-bolt 4663 engine in it.
I got my chassis painted last night. Looking at some pics I took of it I can see a few spots that need attention so I will finish up the painting today. I will try to get the body finally mounted to the chassis tonight also and start the finishing tubing I need on the front end to hold the radiator, fuel cell, battery, etc...
After that its mainly tin work and wiring before it runs. Im hoping for the end of this week to have the car just about finished. Then I just need to make myself a header and intake manifold and find a turbo to use
Ill get some pics up tonight I think.

Oh and its a TH400. I still need to get the real one I plan on using... this one is just a mockup. The engine is not mine either but if I really need to I could use it.
Once I get things back in some sort of an orderly fashion Ill make a site dedicated to the project )which will include off of the pics) explaining what I did. Its honestly unbelievable on how long it takes all said in done. Painting alone took me a combined of 10 hours and it is anything but a perfect paint job.
i wish i had enough money to completely destroy an evo just to put the body on a tube chassis. i thing if i went that far, i would be using a sb chevy.... good luck with the build
And if I was going to use a V8 I wouldnt use a SB, A BB with twin big turbos sounds more appealing to me. I guess Ill just have to make another tube car next winter

Here is a large gif animation showing the last connection. The forklift had to be used this time so the chassis wouldnt scratched to hell trying to mount the body. Worked out well. This better be the last time they become seperated

Weighing in the rear end assembly (Yes I started to get tired after a while) (147ish lbs):

Mocked up in is spot:

Now I just need to finish buffing all the tubes which I of course didnt think about to do while the body was off it. Buffing tubes is no fun either!
I got pretty much everything else painted up also last night so I will be assembling the rest of the car today. It will be a rolling chassis with steering, brakes, suspension, etc by tonight. Just need to come up with an engine, tranny, tq convertor and driveshaft and she is a runner!!!
Ill try to get it all tinned up this week. There is a local car show on wednesday and I have an itch to bring her out into the world so we will see how it goes. The magazine editor has also been waiting patiently for me to get it finished so he should be coming here shortly. Im planning on bringing it to Rock Falls Raceway in Eau Claire, WI on July 8th. A local DSM shop rented the track out then so if anyone wants to come and see her feel free. Its also a rented track day so cheap racing all day and BBQ and whatnot will be there so come on by if you feel like it.
