what, wd40?. they have a special belt conditioner for that. i thought putting oil on your belts was bad.

I had the same problem start when I was at home on R&R, I thought it was cause my car wasnt being used, only started up. I will try spraying my belt and see if it goes away, if its still there I will try the pulley replacement.

Very Good Thread!

same problem here

just started, my car has 12,000KMs on it.

from what i have been told its the Crankshaft Pulley "dampner" (so to speak).

the suggestions i got form local ppl was to change to a lightweight (having no "dampner") pulley (megan or perrin, etc)

anyone tried this?

Mines at the dealer right now making the identical noise in the posted video. They said it's the timing idler. Of course they haven't replaced it yet (part on the way) so that's not 100%.

Same noise here on my IX MR. My best guess was water pump or timing pulley or belt due to the noise being engine speed based. I am taking it into the dealer. Started at 12k and I am now at 22k. Noise hasn't gotten worse, just annoying.

my noise does not increase with revs, it only happens at idle.

i was told by some friends its the idler bearing. so i will swap this weekend and let you know!
