Does it?

I ordered mine and am installing it on Monday..maybe I should paint it before installing? The pictures look like it comes painted but maybe they've changed it...

edit: I would look at it but it's at the shop, not in my possession yet

I already received mine and it is not painted. There seems to be some protective oil on it, so it would need to be cleaned and degreased before painting. Honestly, it doesn't look too bad and I probably won't bother painting it.

I did not paint mine, and would/do not care if any rust builds up on it. BUT, I also don't live somewhere where rust is an issue.

That part number from any Mitsubishi dealership is the correct number (unless they've changed it in the past two months which I doubt)

MitsubishiParts.net has it, should be ~$150 + shipping

When was your timing belt last changed? I would order the full timing kit from STM and the bracket and do it all. The timing belt and everything has to come off to get the bracket swapped anyways so may as well do it all while it's out. Extra $600 bucks now (cost of the timing kit for a 9 with a water pump + shipping from STM) or a full timing job later

On mine I had this noise when I bought it and the guy said he just did a timing belt and balance shift belt on it..

I replaced my cams and redid the timing with the gates belts and found the balance shaft idler pulley was on the wrong way. The lip is supposed to be on the outside of the belt he had it on the inside and it was causing the balance shaft belt to rub the motor.

After putting it back together all noise gone and it sounded EXACTLY like the noise in the video!.

Hope it helps someone else in the future.

sounds like it could definitely be the serp belt or tensoner on the serp belt.

It's already been figured out. It's the bracket. That's why Mitsubishi released a revised bracket

Still no sign of the squeak for me since last summer after changing out the bracket.

Hi my 05 evo9 have some metal to metal knocking sound coming from serpentine tensioner when at low rpm (letting go clutch at 1st gear) last few weeks ago. I got the belt and serpentine tensioner last week and the sound is gone for few days. But the sound come back after 3 days later. The sound is like the belt is slapping the serpentine tensioner at low rpm, 700-800 and wont make any noise which normal driving. Normally only appear at 1st gear when let go clutch. Anyone have this problem before?

does anyone know if this bracket was installed on evo 9 from the factory? I have a very very late production build and was wondering if I should replace this bracket or not.

thanks!
