I contacted Mobil Oil tech staff, he said use the manufacturer's suggested M1 10W30.

Then I told him I have no warranty due to mod's, frequently boost 30+psi, drive the car in hot climate, and occasionaly get lifter tick .

He said M1 0W40 is the oil I want to use for my application, It starts cold as if it was hot and has the best protection under extreme use

I too am trying "Schaeffer's" looks to be the cat's pajamas. for track use I'm going 5~50 in the 9000 series. www.specializedlubricants.net

but I will say for a normal dd there should be nothing wrong with mobil, if you want an edge amsoil, or any of the boutique stuff.

Maybe I missed something but why is Royal Purple crap? I began to use it at the 3rd oil change.

I used Motul 300V 5W-30 on my WRX but it's kinda pricey and I drive a lot of miles. In fact, I used everything Motul in the Subbie...even coolant.

Hmm- since Mobil 1 is now a class 3 has anyone looked a trying the new Q Racing formulas? My understanding is that it is now the north american branded version of the european "Shell Helix" fully synthestic class 4 (PAO based) products.

Any thoughts?

I am going to try Motul 0W-40. It uses class 5 feedstocks, where Mobil 1 uses class 3. It's about twice as much as Mobil 1.
