Any thoughts?
I ran nothing but Q 20/50 in the DSM. Its a blend. But a good one.
That motor sees 9k + and lots of boost. Never a problem. Or a tick.

They pulled it from our market in auto zone / advanced. Shame, it was cheap, and decent.

I just put in Mobil 1 10/30 in the Evo. It's what was in it. So I figured I'd just replace it for now until I thought on where I wanted to go. It doesn't see past 7k. I figured it would be "ok" for now. Tho I usually advocate heavier stuff in cars that get the nuts drove off'em. I'm really not for now.

mobil 1 10w-30 every 5k,
yes every 5k, I dont race my car I commute with it and the manual says 5k changes for normal driving conditions. Changing oil every 2.5k is a waste and your oil probably looks brand new.

Thanks for responding with such a good amount of information. I'm just going to use Motul again and call it a day.

Mobil one... it's not that you can't find better, it's that you don't need better.

I wonder how many people that are voting for Mobil 1 realize they have downgraded their feedstocks?

Before buying an oil, look if:

it meets API SL/SM, if it meets ACEA A3/B3/B4, if it has a HTHS > 3,5, if it has a TBN > 10, if it has a viscosity index > 160, if it meets the hardest tests like MB 229.5 (AMG vehicles).

AFAIK, Mobil 1 now uses Class 3 feedstocks instead of Class 4.

Motul, the oil I'm switching to, uses Class 5.

it doesn't matter that they downgraded, in reality there is no difference in how long your car will last.. you could probably even go with the cheapest house brand of synthetic and with regular changes be more than fine - I consider using Mobil one added safety. most of us won't even own these cars past 100K and if we did then a rebuild would be smart anyway.
