My theory on the Apexi:
My theory on the airflow (as shown in the graph) is since it has the goofy neck-down adapter more air is flowing through the center of the MAF being metered therefore not as much on the sides being unmetered. This would also explain why the Apexi filter had the richest AFR's since the car is actually getting less air than the MAF thinks it is.

No borometer logged, sorry guys.
Remember, just because the MAF shows that the apexi read higher, does not mean that it *actually* reads higher. You'll notice that the afr richens up (as kracka said above) on that filter. Perhaps its a maf scaling issue, perhaps not, who knows.

Ultimately that will come down to your intake pipe, but with the Buschur I believe it will fit. If you also have a Buschur intake pipe and would like me to test-fit it on my car let me know. Otherwise, I suggest just measuring very carefully to be sure you have the proper clearance needed.

I have no idea if it is possible

In theory I suppose a pad of foam should absorb more sound than a layer of cotton, but in the real-world I don't think the difference is enough to notice.

Let me know how much space you have between the MAF and the ACD tank or IC sprayer tank and I'll take measurements of how long the MAF adapter + air filter is.

Should also work with the Injen Intake seeing they now come with the AMSOIL Filter.
