well that's not making any sence.

Many folks would much rather use a 15w15 over a 0w50 all day long, specially at the track or hard driven cars.

The only reason I would be running an 0w50 would be if the climate I drive in is always sub zero otherwise no absolute reason.

Now let's separate the children from the adults.
- The racing dominator oils are 100% 'synthetic, group 4 oil
-Eneos is a group 3 oil which means they carry hydrocarbons, and then on top of that you make a 0w50 multiviscocity, because of the large spread from the 0 to the 50 there is a need for lots of Viscocity improvers additives which tells me this oil will shear down fast to a 40 weight.

Just finished reading the whole thread, and did learn ALOT. Lots of good info in here, most of it is in the first 10 or so pages, but i recommend to just read all of it. I'll be using Amsoil 10w40 AMO for my FP Red

Good choice.. many shops use it for their customer builds and their own shop cars... we have a few high powered GTRs using it also

This is generally correct, simply because a 0w-50 oil requires greater viscosity modifier content than 15w-50.

Is it JB or BB unit?

If BB it doesn't matter which oil you use as long as it's clean. Again for newbies opening this thread. FP's oil requirements are for their JB ONLY due to their proprietary bearing design.

Hey pal....

Let me add to what my friend here has stated.. using an oil with around 900 to 1200 ppm of Zddp will benefit areas in the engine that may expirience metal to metal contact. Like cam lobes and lifters, piston rings and cylinder walls, piston skirts and cylinder walls and bearings and journals ect... it is an additive that is chemically activated by heat so the harder you drive the car the more zddp will protect which is why zddp is normally used for racing or engine of high output..

Oil is not oil.. there are high quality and low quality same thing with everything else you buy

So looks like the PDF on FP's site is still the report from 2010... are there any approved additions to the list (for warranty issues) from FP themselves?

It's not. That's the thing... there's a lot of oils listed in this thread that theoretically SHOULD be on the list (like the Amsoil AMO 10w40 which I'm planning on switching to) but I don't want my Black to not be covered simply because it wasn't listed on a 4.5 year old list.

I'd call FP and ask.

They are nice guys, they will give you a straight yes or no and have a detailed explanation as to why.

Will likely be the route I take (that's always been my experience with them as well). Would be good if they could come in here and chime in/update the list as well for everyone else's sake.
