Would have been great to see exhaust manifold pressure for both setups to confirm that it was really a difference in hotside flow capacity and not a difference WGA holding capability for the two different turbos.

I should have noted - on the vband boost was controlled with a TiAL 44mm and on the ts housing it has twin TiAL 38 gates- external dump on both using a grimmspeed 3 port. The boost was tapered intentionally as we saw no increase in power from holding more up top only increased intake air temps which we attributed to back pressure- edit- I should also note we welded the flapper shut so no leaking or blowing open could occur

Great info. Is there any noticable difference in transient response between the two hotside setups?

The car will be out this weekend at an event so we will get feedback then but I would imagine that the twin scroll will be slightly more responsive especially as the run goes on and the manifold and housing get hotter

A little research on EFR turbos leads to some QC issues related to broken turbine wheels.... actually breaking of the shaft.

Were these only initial QC problems or do these issues still occur?

Also while browsing their website, I failed to locate any information on warranty length and details.

Can anyone direct me to a written warranty statement for these turbos?

As I remember, the word we got a year or 2 ago was that the turbine wheels that were failing had been made by a subcontractor in the USA who was not getting the material properties right. The solution we heard was a switch to a different sub, in Japan, who got it right.

Borg

So I planned on a Borg Warner 76/70 on a bolt 2.3. Not sure how I will like that set up. Wanna stay around 600whp.

you'll struggle to make 600whp on a 7670 unless it's on 110% kill mode.
If you want reliable 600whp, then go 8374.

Borg

Really kill mode on the 76/70 even on e85?? I really want to keep faster spool.

Also borg related

I just wish I knew of another manifold to use with the EFR style turbo other the full race. Not that they are bad or anything. Just was wondering if anyone knew of another company that makes one. If so let me know. Haha

I had a chat today with Geoff about his progress with setting up his 7163 TS T4 in his Evo, and two items came up:

- It seems that the transient response of the TS T4 is much better than the v-band. The owner's comment to Geoff was, "One thing I would like to mention, the graph that we sent showing the difference between the t4 and v band does not give it justice, the car is an absolute monster on the track now. Thanks, Alex"

- It won't be ready for a while because of prior committments, but Geoff has figured out a bottom mount orientation for the 7163 T4 TS that effectively clears the A/C compressor.

Maybe I'll keep my 7163 T4 TS afterall.

Very good news!

I am really looking for the results as I really want to have as broad a torque band as possible. I believe it would make a really fun to drive daily 400-500hp car

The holy grail to me would be able to reach 300wtq below 3500 rpm and carry it all the way to 7-8k

What are the pro's and cons of having a bottom mount? I would have thought the top mount for the BW 7163 is much easier to install and work with, so there must be an advantage of having a bottom mount which i am not getting and would appreciate some advice from those in the know.
