Does Bosch also own Champion? I know when I used to do spark plugs on Mercedes Benz the oem spark plugs would say Bosch on the plugs, now the oem spark plugs say Champion but with same part number stamped on them.

Searching on the web reveals that it does not look like Bosch owns Champion Labs.

Thanks for contributing this information Golgo13 ! Im always on BITOG searching filter efficiencies/ lab results for the best oil/filter combinations for street/ autox . But, on their forums there's not too much info about the 4G63/ 4B11's unfortunately.. This is great/ unbiased information though According to the results, I should be good using WIX filters on the street and AMSOIL filters at the track

When I was reading through, the Distance+ are different from the Pureone/Reg Bosch. The design of the can was a lot better but the filter media was a little different, which may allow more "dirt holding" capacity.

I bought a regular Bosch last night from Autozone on sale for $5 and without cutting it open it looked just like the Pureone in terms of what I could see.

I'm going to see if I can scrap up some spare change an send you some filters that would be readily accessible for most people, like FRAMs, STPs, Motorcraft...what ever you could get at a Autozone, Wal-Mart, or O'Rielly's.

Bosch and Champion Labs were in a joint venture that ended not to long ago, they recently (2006) partnered up with Purlator(MANN+HUMMEL) and own 50% of that stake. MANN+HUMMEL just bought Bosch's stake of Purlator in December, so there is a chance that we will see a change in the Bosch filters soon.

It's hard to keep up when you get deeper into the rabbit hole on some of these companies. For example Champion Labs is actually owned by United Components Inc. which just recently merged with FRAM, which is wholly owned by an investment group called Rank Group...and the umbrella gets bigger and bigger.

Im sure it eventually all traces back to it all being owned by one company, probably something like BP or Haliburton.

I would just keep them. Not bad to have some spares " just in case".
