Well gents I am driving across the country with my new setup. I hit the 1k mark on my new engine, tranny and blouch turbo. Decided to stop by Jacks transmission since they built the tranny to say hello and get a new diff. It started to whine a little after new bushings and yes I am using oem gear oil. What you don't know I have a 4.0 final drive and loving it. Oh the joy of driving 80 @ about 2800-3k rpm roughly.
I only ax so the 1.0 works best for my needs. Be at jacks on Tuesday.

as for the freeway driving, that would be awesome LOL. anything to save a few MPGs and bring the noise level down haha.
have a safe trip.

So I did a science experiment for you guys. Filled up in Albuquerque e85 drove 300 miles to the next e85 in pueblo Colorado. Wow $1.69 a gallon colorado for e85. I was cruising a average of 85mph sometimes 90. Wife says 23.35 mpg. I filled up in colorado 12.844 gallons.

Last time i drove to LA I got 280 miles out of a tank of 91, and that was PUSHING it on mileage. I put 14.5 gallons in it...lol.
Seeing as everyone is talking about mileage I managed a staggering 3mpg at the track yesterday on my low boost map

I do 21-22mpg in DD silicon valley rush hour, on 91.
ON E85, maybe 16mpg is common.
Not bad.

Next time I Will drive speed limit which is 75 at 2500rpms when I leave Colorado. See what happens.......
Got my 1.0XTR installed and fired it up today to check for leaks. I also did a boost leak test with an uncrushed valve and found it started leaking around 18-20psi and was hissing pretty good by 25psi. I tossed on my crushed valve and it was just starting to make noise 5psi higher, 23-25psi. And 30psi sounded about how the stock sounded at 25psi. So for now I have the crushed valve back on with all its surging glory and a synapse DV that will be here wednesday.
All was good for leaks so I turned boost down to wg pressure to go for a drive. (BTW, my wg actuator was set to 1/2 eyelet overlap from the start. I just checked it and put it back). First thoughts, I can definitely hear the BB wine Ive heard with other BB turbos though this is my first. Also the stock turbo made a lot of intake whoosh sounds right at 0 psi and now its nearly silent up until 5-10psi. Could this be the crushed valve no opening at part throttle or do others experience the same thing?
Turned boost up a little to see where things would end up and it went straight to 20psi and held strong to redline. No clue what the power is at but Id say its not much less powerful if any than the stock turbo at peak tq running 25psi. It also pulled solid to redline. Stock turbo definitely didn't feel like this at 20psi so now excited to get it cranked up a bit.

The BBK turbos have a distinctive whine at perhaps -2 to +2 psi. Its not the BB - just the comp wheel cutting the air. FP turbos also do the same thing.
Glad you checked your DV. My stock DV made it all the way to 25 psi before it started seeping air, so a little better than yours. However, it caused AFR issues during spool at boost levels below 25 psi.
You might find that even the aftermarket DVs do not solve the surging issue.
