Reverse pops out while car running, normal with car off.

Back to try and resolve this issue. While car is running, put into reverse, as soon as i start releaseing clutch, it pops out. If the car is off, i put it into reverse with no force at all, start the car, start reversing, no issues, EVER.

Flywheel and clutch has been changed to brand new, same issue. (upgraded)
New OEM shifter cable bracket installed. (no change)
NEW OEM shifter linkage cables installed. (no change)
New fluid in trans. (probably doesnt matter anyway)
Tried adjusting the clutch in and out, No change.

What's next? Do i just assume reverse detent is gone? Did the shop build miss something on the tranny while building it? Its stage 1 build, only has about 800 miles on it.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks,
David

Shep, im trying to figure this out. Im not planning on ripping out the trans (im in canada), shipping the trans to someone, wait, pay again, get it back and reinstall. Trying to see if there's a possibility of something else that i might be missing.

If the 5/R detent and washer look good, then it is most likely either the 5/R slider or Reverse gear engagment teeth. If the trans was just built they most likely replaced the slider.

Im assuming i gotta take the trans apart to see any of this, in which case im not gonna bother. I wouldnt take the trans apart myself, and was hoping it might be something else aside from trans issue. But thats what its coming down to i think. sigh

Every other gear is smooth, no issues. When the car is off, i put the gear in reverse, start, and then start reversing, there's no issues. But with car on, put in reverse, pops out as soon as the car starts moving.

Wanted to try and resolve this before selling the car, but i think im gonna have to take a loss. Ugh.

Thanks for all the input.

Call Shep, maybe he can work something out for you. I don't understand your reluctance to further involve the shop that did the trans after their initial suggestions did not work. He may offer to pay for shipping, you never know until you ask..

Reason why im reluctant to call, is because im not interested in pulling the trans out again. I do all the work in the driveway and its a real pain. I had to pull trans, drove it to ohio (6hour drive), came back. Had it shipped back, installed. Drove maybe 800imles and reverse went to poop. 2 months later my clutch went (comp stage2 clutch is garbage, dont ever buy), installed new clutch, reinstalled trans hoping the best and still no fix on the reverse. Im not interested in pulling out the trans again. Im at a point where i rather sell the car as is, then work on it again. If it was something smaller that i could have done, i would. But seems like the trans has to come out.

Thanks for all the help. Time to find buyer that's interested in a well priced, fully built evo that needs minor work.

Thanks again.
