no tickets. I "financed" the extended warranty, then on my way out of the dealership I cancelled it and had them write me a check for the amount (which was actually a little more back in my pocket)... akin to a cash-back refi. Then I paid off the loan within the 3-day period they gave with a lower rate loan from my credit union, then I paid off the CU loan entirely after a couple of months' payments. Strange way to do it, but was able to pay for the car and get some good credit points at the same time
To the OP:
Did your car really have 60 miles on it when you got it? If so, there's something wrong; I would bet that somewhere along the delivery someone took it for a spirited test drive, which may be the root of your problems. I know for a fact that all new Evos from South Coast Mitsu have 3-6 miles on them when they are sold; mine had 4 miles when I got it.
Also, you shouldn't believe what the salesperson told you as far as modifications. He will do anything to sell you a car. Maybe that dealership is "mod-friendly", but unless you have it in writing, I wouldn't trust that my warranty is safe with mods.
Honestly, I think it may be immoral for Mitsubishi to void warranties for things which didn't directly cause problems, but everyone needs to understand that they are a business, and businesses will do anything to cut costs. Everyone talks about that Moss Act or whatever it's called, but until there is a huge lawsuit, Mitsubishi will continue voiding warranties.

save for a shep or tre rebuild. I had problems with my civic and went to get warranty work done, denied for catback, intake, and suspension. Followed sema's steps on using magnusson act and got to the consumer protection agency step and they agreed with honda because they had no mechanics to look @ car. Only had dmv and federal trade commision left who have mechanics and would have taken car, broke it down, and figured out wether or not the intake, catback and suspension had anything to do with tranny failure. By this time I had no fifth gear and just gave up and swapped a used tranny I got for 150 bucks. My advice just give up. Unless you realy have the time, money(for lawyer), and another car to use while you dont have use of your evo its realy not worth the headaches. People go on and on about the magnusson act and yes sometimes it works but its a uphill battle that sometimes not worth the fight. Thats why I decided to keep my evo stock. Whatever happens I wish you the best of luck.

you know its funny, i have an srt-4 in my driveway with an exploding clutch issue.... i have over 12k worth of damage, i still owe 20 grand on the car.. it has 8 k miles and i bought it earlier this year.. i got LAUGHED at for warranty and the car is now toast. the dealer did everything to screw me over and i cant even begin to tell u why, practically no reason. funny thing is, its happened to TONS of 05's..never happens to any other year... the car was bone stock.. so i feel ya.. fight it, thats what im doing.. haha im ending up in the process of buying an 03 evo.. it all works out in the end if you stick with it
