Another funny side note, anyone see that commercial with all the Mitsubishis driving past the giant line of service techs? Anyone notice that the Evo is no where to be found? And yes, so I don't have to answer later, I am the driver of said Evo that we're discussing here.

So what gives. Months later, have you gotten it resolved? Jesus.

Resolved? Nope, arbitration went no where. As I heard from a number of others, it was a bit of a joke.

I appologize for not reading the first 46 pages....do you blame me...

now let's put two and two together here. It's a general consensus that mistu is very very quick to void your drivetrain warrenty. now the MR is a $35k car, that comes with a 100k mile drivetrain warrenty...awesome. especially since the transmission has NO user serviceable parts, and is a throw away and replace item...an item that cost $4700...can you see where I'm going with this...

if mitsu is voiding these warrenties, what's to stop them doing it on the MR, and any MR driver that breaks a synchro because of (in mitsu's terms) "running it hard" will be forking out $4700.... i can see this becoming a HUGE problem!!

unless some of the shops like TRE step up and start working on them... that is a huge deterrent from buying an MR.

as far fetched as it may seem...maybe boycotting the purchase of MRs, because of mitsu's reckless warrenty voiding, would open their eyes a bit.

It's the reason I didn't buy an MR, and the warrenty voiding in general is the reason I didn't buy an 05... what's a 100k warrenty that only lasts for 10k if you're lucky...or doesn't stand at all??

I bought used, as I expected to have to service the car myself, and not expect mitsu to uphold thier end...as sad as that may seem, after seeing how mitsu handled crankwalk with 95/96 gsx/talon's...my faith was pretty much nil

TRE does work on the 6 speed transmission.
We also work on the EVO 5 speed and that pesky transfer case.

I'm glad you like the transmission.

We've made HUGE IMPROVEMENTS to the shift quality and overall durability of the EVO transmissions.

I thought they shifted pretty good from the factory and I myself didn't expect it to shift this good but holy**** did we change how one can drive the car. It's incredible.

The transmission can stuffed into any gear with such ease that it almost feels unnatural and you become aware that you might take a bite out of the steering wheel if you accidentally grab 1st when going for 3rd.

Time to go home now.

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned earlier in this post, (I didn't read the entire thing), but I would suggest Mitsu simply offer to sell the car as is, or with a very basic factory defect warranty. If they were to knock whatever their estimated warranty costs are out of the car, (and I am willing to bet even with all the denials it is no small number), they could significantly increase their sales and eliminate the anger that is plastered all over this board. The reduced price/no warranty option would also make a new model car more attractive compared with a used model. Since Mitsu doesn't see a dime of the resale, this move seems like a real WIN/WIN to me. Being in Arlington Heights, I figure I could easily trade my warranty coverage for a Stage 1 or even a Stage 2 upgrade at Automotosports.
