same here... to the inital poster of this thread, i have just been denied my claim by the center for dispute resoultion for my calipers and if anyone starts an action, please include me, your lawyer or who ever is working on your behalf can contact me by email from my evom profile and i will help anyway i can. it just irks me that mitsu can replace some people's calipers, depending on region, and deny others. i am pissed and do not want to let mitsu get away with this crap!

It took me hell but I finally got the front calipers replaced. Two seperate times, two seperate dealers. They will not replace the rear ones though. I will have to look at these ones myself.

I do have some clear coat on the rear wing that is coming off. I have waxed the car by hand only. I have not been denied but there is a full TSB with pictures out there on why they cannot replace the wing. I would not care about replacement, they could have it stripped and recleared. I am sure carbon fiber with a lack of clear coat will eventually damage it. Both dealers I have went to for my EVO problems have been ok about it. If I get denied at one I try the other. The only thing outstanding is the wing, but I have 38k miles, although I did notify them before I reached 36k miles. Any ideas?

its about time..take this to the media expose the best backed cars' warranties. On paper it says we get x amount of miles and x amount of years but when the dealers are trying to deny work on the cars with a crapload of BS excuses, thats crossing the line. Mitsu is really cheap tho, i heard from a mitsu sales mgr that mitsu doesnt pay much for the warranty and the dealer doesnt wanna work on our cars because i guess they don't feel its worth the trouble

Powertrain warranty w/ mods???

Alright, let me do this in a nutshell. While I was EVO shopping a few months back, I ran into this dealer at Gillman Mitsu in San Marcos, and he told me that after the bumper-to-bumper 36,000 mile warranty expires and it drops to just powertrain, Mitsu allows certain mods which won't void the powertrain as long as they are on "the list." My EVO just turned 36,000, so I want to get into modding now.

My question is, is there a list? Does anyone have said list? Or does this just sound like he's blowing a little smoke?

There is no official "list" available to the public to my knowledge. Dealerships might have their own list of stuff, but it will mostly be non-powertrain related. In other words, putting in that aftermarket stereo wont affect your vehicle warranty anymore, simply becasue you dont have one. And it wont affect your powertrain warranty for obvious reasons. Stuff like taking off the cat, cams, tuning, boost controllers, etc is still most likely a no-no in your case, assuming you still want to take advantage of the powertrain warranty.

Why dont you ask the guy whats on his list? Then youl know for sure. Dealerships will let you do minimal things to the car, like boost gauges, etc. Just ask him, then youl both know the limits. Win-win.

Warranty Question

So, I searched for awhile and found a few things, but nothing directly answering my question. What is the normal 03 warranty and how does it change when you are the 2nd owner? Also, does the 05 warranty also change when you transfer ownership? I have some vauge numbers in my head, like 30,000/3 years for 03 and 100,000/10 years for 05. Those close, off, around there? Thanks guys.

yes the warranty changes. If you look in the warranty book in the glove box, also there is a copy on the mitsubishi web site.

you can find the info there.

Well its news to me about it changing with different owners. Thats not what my dealer had told someone else. NOW it did change from the 03 to 05 but shouldnt be any reason on how many owners as long as it falls into the timeframe given by mitsu. The 03 had 3 yr 30k and the 05 is now 60k 5 years im almost certain.

The warranty for the 03 and 04 doesn't change when ownership of car changes. The 05+ warranty changes when ownership changes.

wow really?? I guess that sounds so bizarre to me!

I guess i shouldnt be shocked, they put out a better warranty(for stockers) on the 05's so they have to have a way of diminishing it somehow continues to amaze me

I don't have my Evo yet, thats part of the reason why I was asking (getting it this December). I will take a look at the Mitsu website, thank you.
