Don't know if this is constructive or not but it is very pertinient to your case. I do work for lawyers who deal with cases such as yours(from yours and the other side of the table). We've discussed this very topic on several occasions

If you didn't buy the car from Mitsubishi / its dealers it's very hard to convince a judge that they owe you damages for diminshed value(the ussual lions share of the suit). Esspecially cosmetic flaws that could be attributed to the previous owner(s).

If YOU CAN PROVE that a very very large % of 2003 EVO's have the same problem you may be okay. But hearsay don't hold up in court. It's gotta be documented by a reputable source, such as Mitsubishi Motors North America. They don't publically keep track of that sort of info for a reason.

Good luck.

If you've never had a problem, then I can see where you might consider this ridiculous, but many of us have had multiple issues. Like the thread starter said, if you don't have anything positive to contribute, please don't get involved.

I never had problems with my dealership. I have problems with the district parts and service manager. His first gripe was that I had aftermarket parts on my car (he cited a wastegate, which there wasnt). When I proved him wrong, he cited abuse. The tech confirmed no signs of abuse. He finally said "put the car back to stock" and we'll look at it. The problem occured before any after market parts were on the car and the noise has not gone away.

I'm tired of getting jerked around. He's looking for ways to void my warranty instead of looking for ways to fix the car. He does not listen to what I have to say and he didnt even call the dealership today to let them know he would be more than 45 minutes late. The meeting was scheduled for 930 AM and I had the parts guy call him at 10:15 and he was still 20-25 minutes out.

I am tired of being treated like a "kid." I'm sure I'm like alot of you, 22, working hard to make payments on my car. I am a Mistubishi customer, and this guy doesnt seem to be listening to me.

The district parts and service manager represents Mitsu and hes doing a terrible job of it. The dealership has been nothing short of fantastic throughout.

Dam this sounds like Stevens Creek Mitsu. Those bastards B.S. about everything. It took me almost 3 times of arguing just to get them to fix my speakers and at the end I was so fed up with them that I never went baak to pick them up. I didn't want to deal with them anymore, especially when they test drove my car without my approval. I don't think you need to test drive a car to listen to a speaker right?

Don't these come pre-painted from Brembo. I don't beleive the car companys are painting these with two tone paint schemes. Another step in the manufacturing process.

what dealership lex? my dealer in IL has been very fair, but in CO..... I had an eclipse with a multitude of problems they would never fix, and it was 100% stock, that includes no race gas lol.

I bought my 03 used and when I had the transfer case replaced under warranty, the service manager said that it had been replaced once before for the previous owner.

He also told me that they DO NOT warrant the clutch, cause it is considered as regular wear and tear. Make your own conclusions on that, but I went ahead and got an ACT replacement for $1700 installed. Stock clutch would have been $1000 in parts alone.

Good luck

max madsen by the mall. I haven't had any other issues with the car but when I brought up my rust all the excuses were pulled out. Every time I pull my car into the bay the first thing he says to me is: "Hey that sounds like a hot cam in there" and I just tell him its all stock.

my dealer recommended i get a xede when i told him i wanted a flash or something. he saw my tbe, k&n, licp, ebc. he said they were all fine. he told me i could do a lot. so he just told me what i cant do. i can't crack open the engine IE cams and such. i can't touch the fuel (injectors fpr), i can't get a different turbo, i can't spray anything. as always they will not warranty the part you changed, so I do not have the emmisions warranty b/c of my exhaust. these cars support much more stock hp in Japan and Europe, so why do you guys say "you gotta pay to play." that's bs. i can see why a clutch will void the drivetrain, i see why cams void the engine. i don't expect them to keep my turbo warranty with a boost controller. but it is redicoulous to void engine and drivetrain warranties for bolt ons that add 50 whp.

That gave me a good idea that probably a lot of people do anyways, ask the dealer's mechanic or whatever, whoever is incharge of warrenty and crap, what you CAN do that wont void warrenty and just go to him everytime you get your car in for service/repair.
