sorry, but i was just irked by the way that she handled this situation and that she really thinks that it's THAT unfair of the dealerships. what will happen when this girl eventually affords a clutch (btw, affording a 30k car that costs as much as it does in insurance and unable to afford $1100 parts+labor for a clutch???) and then blows her tranny?

btw, 30k miles, stock clutch, 50+ track launches, 100+ street launches.

This is one of the reason why people loves subaru more than mitsubishi, but don't get me wrong, Evolution is a nice car, but not the company who made it.
Mitsubishi is a company with a little to no profit at all in Japan just to let you know.

I'm sorry but that's total BS. These type of situations have everything to do with the service staff at the actual dealership, and nothing to do with the corporation. Visit any car forum...whether it be Dodge, Honda, Nissan or Subaru...and you'll see tons of threads about restricted warranty coverage. People are people and everybody is different. The thread starter just needs to start dealing with the people rather than complaining about the problem.

I blew a tire going over the grapevine at 100+ mph. I noticed when I saw the smoke. I pulled over and put on the donut all the way back to Sacramento(talk about a long drive). I took it to American Discount Tires and they talked to YOKO. YOKO actually gave me a new tire for free. I had about 7k miles on it when it occurred. Try talking to YOKO.

As far as the clutch is concerned, that will be hard to try to have them cover under warranty. I had 25k miles on my clutch when I sold the car and I had no prob. That was with close to 15 5k+ rpm drops!!!!

And if you want to talk about crap, lets talk about the PLASTIC MOTOR MOUNT BRACKETS ON THE 06 STI that break when you have a hard launch or downshift!!!!

The other thing about the clutch is that if you elect to have it replaced by the dealership or whoever, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE OLD ONE. Hopefully somebody in here with some proffesional experience will offer to check it out for you. If not you can always take it to a local ASE certified mechanic to get his opinion for a fee. If it's determined that you abused it, oh well. But if they can show a mechanical defect you may be in business.

I think most of you guys are missing the point. This isn't an issue of whether the warranty covers the tires and clutch, or whether its reasonable for evoVIchik to believe that the warranty would cover the tires and clutch, or whether there was a binding verbal contract created through the salesperson.

The point is that misrepresentations were made in connection with the sale of the car...to induce the purchase of the car on false pretenses The dealer's offense is sales fraud and deceptive sales practices.

This isn't a contract dispute or an issue of whether a verbal contract is enforceable. This is about unethical sales practices and fraud.

That's why the benefit of the doubt should be given. Look how your clutch has held up and all I remember her saying is that she's put a lot of highway miles on her car. Her clutch should've lasted longer than yours.

With the clutch being a wearable item it is covered for 12K miles, but the clutch has to be faaulty or broken to be covered. If it's slipping it's due to not driveing the car correctly or abuse.

The tires do have a warrenty as well, but the dealership is not the oens to replace them. You'd had to go to a Yokohama delaer and talk with them. You should have all that stuff for your tires and such with all your paper work.

I went through the same thing with my ITR. At 40,000 miles my car STOPPED going into gear. I took it to the delaer and they checked. Somehow the clutch broke and completley replaced under warrenty. They told me if it were to be slipping it was my fault.

Good luck with getting your car repaired, but I don't see any dealership replacing a slipping clutch for free. If it were to be broke with your mileage I could see it, but not when it's slipping. Look for the paper work on your tires. There should be some kind of warrenty that might be able to help you. EVERYTHING on the car is covered, but they may not be covered by the dealer. If you can't find it, talk to your dealer and see if they can point you in the right direction with getting your tires replaced.

Hey Einstein,

If the car came mis-aligned from the factory, Mitsubishi should be culpable. Period. End of story.

You don't need a tire to BLOW to get coverage for it.

Let me be the first one here to give you some advice that may actually work and be of some help. Go to Geico.com and insure your almost-new vehicle from them and ask for the 7-yr 100K mile auto warranty that they have for $25 extra on top of your monthly premium. They offer this additional warranty on cars that are less than 6-months old from the day of purchase. The vehicle must have been brand-new when it was purchased. This warranty is identical to the Mitsu factory one where wear and tear items are not covered except for rare premature failures such as your clutch. I'm not sure they can cover you on the tires though. There is a $250 deductible when you take it into a licensed repair facility of your choice but that's probably minor compared to what you could be paying for the whole thing. I bought my vehicle knowing the horror stories of the Mitsu warranty fiasco that some have gone through and wanted to make sure I covered my ***. I hope this helps.
