Fact of the matter is if the mod doesn't cause the problem then they can't void it. IE your turbo blows w\ an exhaust on there they have to fix it.

Yes, modding does affect your warranty but there are certain mods that are safe:

2. Aftermarket clutch depending on the type do not void your transmission warranty. I'm sure a lot of you will be happy to read about this one. They won't cover the clutch itself but the rest of you transmission warranty is safe. I was soo happy when I heard this one

I went to my dealership a few weeks ago and asked the manager if I replaced my stock clutch with a more durable clutch(Act, Exedy), would I still keep my warranty.. He said he would call his mitsu rep and get back to me. An hour later he called me and told me his mitsu rep said the only clutch I could do would be the stock evo clutch...any different clutch would void my warranty...I'm definetly NOT liking that...

I'll agree with you on that one...my dad was like "this one is staying stock, no mods to it, the warranty stays"...then again, the warranty doesnt really cover much even if you dont have any mods.

^^ Not true the warranty does cover alot if you don't have any mods, its like any other car manufacturer's warranty. Its actually very easy if you want to keep your warranty, don't mod! Don't complain about not having a warranty after you mod your car, you wanna play you gotta pay, simple!
Unfortunately, it seems the district service rep for my region got changed and supposedly the new one is stricter when it comes to mods, we'll see .... on top of that the service manager at the dealership I go to, left .... so this list might get revised after I have a word with the new district service rep. We'll see ....

This is definitely true. If you mod your evo your warranty is down the tubes. Mitus has lost soo much money from the 1G and 2G eclipses that they are 10x smarter now about mods to the cars. trust me i know as i hav friends that are managers in the ervice dept's here in Florida.

Warranty Denial - Lawsuit MOA

Well, if you are like me you are sick & tired of Mitsubishi of America denying warranty work on our cars for no good reason and getting away with it.

Yesterday I went in to get my Brembos changed out under warranty and was denied, with the reason they still work. This is unacceptable and I am filing a lawsuit, I have 2 attorneys researching the case and seeing if they want to take it at the moment.

If you have been denied warranty work for the following, and are interested in joining the lawsuit please let me know.

Brownbos - Paint peeling on your Brembo Calipers
Fabric coming loose on seats
Spoiler blistering / clear coat coming off
rear panels where the passenger doors close - rusting
Anything else not mentioned please mention - these are just the things wrong with my car they won’t cover.

other examples that are common problems but not on mine,
driver / passenger seat cracking

These are all items that modifications cannot be argued nor do they have a valid reason not to warranty the item.

If you have had the following troubles and where denied warranty work we might have a harder time but its worth a shot. Only mention these if your car did not have modifications that would weaken the case.

Such as - If you had a BOV and your tranny started grinding this is valid. However if you had cams, ecu, etc and then it started grinding this is what we DONT want.

Tranny
Transfer Case

These are the two most common problems but if you have something specific please speak up.

I have not discussed payment or any other option with the attorney yet, however if we can get 200+ involved in this and each donate 20 dollars this will be more than adequate to compensate them for there work!

Only constructive comments at this time, my idea is to have 200+ EVO's line up at the courthouse as a showing of unity.

As soon as I get an attorney signed on I'm then going to contact the local news stations + 60 minutes ETC.

Everyone’s help + ideas are more than appreciated lets join together and instead of complaining lets make a change! We all have something different we can bring to the table, and together we can fight and win this!

Thanks for your time,

Michael Staton

per the terms of the warrenty agreement between you and MOA you are required to proceed through their arbitration process prior to seeking legal action.

^ I don't. I refused to sign the arbitration agreement with MM when I bought my car. The dealership accepted my refusal.

Well according to my dealer they would warranty everything if it was up to them. Its just if they choose to warranty something without approval they would get charged for it and thus eat the costs. Thats why I'm going after MOA! Its free money & work for the dealerships so its to only there advantage to warranty our cars!

So, the dealer denied the warranty claim because they were unsure MoA would pay them. What did the MoA zone rep tell you when you called them?
