No way will they cover the 02 sensor, just find a cheaper one and don't waste your apparently valuable time.

If it was me, i would try anyway and take it in. I work 10 hours everyday 6 days a week, and i would definiatly stop by a dealership and at least give it a try. My nearest dealer is 30min. and i'm there a couple times a week between my 2G, 3G, and the evo.

Anyone get an aftermarket warranty?

hey guys, i was just curious how many of you went and got an aftermarket warranty, i know my brother got one on his m3 after his warranty expired and the bmw service department told him, now that he has an aftermarket warranty, he can do whatever to his car and theyll back him up since they are not responsible for the warranty anymore, so he has a lot more freedom to do stuff to his car now, i was wondering if you can pull this off on an evo
i know mitsu voids a ton of warranties because of work done on evos, so i was thinking, what if you got an aftermarket one (they usually don't know jack and let you get away with murder, at least in my bro's case), that way you can do your intake, exhaust, etc to the car and still have it warrantied. I could be wrong on this though, has anyone tried it?

Well let me tell you about aftermarket warranties, this is from dealing with inspectors that they send out whenever you make a claim of $1000.00 or more. The warranty issuing company will send out an inspector on any claim over $1000.00,parts and labor included in that total to see how they can get out of paying any warranty claim.
For instance, the other day we had a vehicle that needed new rear differential and the inspector was taking pictures of an aftermarket radio and alarm install and of the STOCK size tires on said vehicle and was trying to deny claim based on these things.I had to prove to inspector that the tires are the stock size that the vehicle came with, then he tells me that the radio and alarm are not "stock",to that I replied "do you think the radio or alarm had contributed to the rear diff failing"? and he replied,"if the radio wasn't so loud the customer may have heard the rear end singing it's loud song for quite a while before it finally destroyed itself".....Our dealers G.M. had to call the aftermarket warranty company and had to threaten to stop selling their aftermarket policys if this is how they were going to treat their customers just to get them to pay,WTF.... They finally authorized to replace diff. but we go through this every time.
Moral to aftermarket warranties is If you plan on Modding your car use the $$$ twords your mods as they look for any way possible to NOT cover you part....

Ah this isnt always the case, I have on my TA a job that costed about 1500 and they just approved it over the phone. However, the do need to have the work done at a shop thats certified to work on aftermarket warranties. On my contract agreement it says that in capital bold letters.

I bought one when I bought my 05. I phoned them to ask if they would cover a warrenty that mistu denied, or if they would cover mods. No to both was the answer. I cashed in the warrenty as it was essentially useless, if you mod at all.

If you read the book you get with the warrenty, mods are out. As for standard work on an unmodded car, it depends on the company issuing the warrenty. Its like dealerships. Some will do the work no problem, so will try to get out of it.

The way I see it after your factory warranty is up and something breaks that gives you a good excuse to upgrade to something better.

I purchased an aftermarket warranty when I bought my EVO. The MITSU ended at 60K and the aftermarket was from 60-100K. I never had any issues getting anything covered even with my mods.

The sensor itself is $294.00, without installation cost which shouldn't be much added on.. Do you guys think this is worth it for me to go and have it replaced and will they give me warranty with my Mod's.. (look at my sig).

Opinions Please!

I would figure out what you think it is going to take out of your work week to take care of this ......warranty or no warranty ........attach what you make hourly multiplied by the anticipated time, plus gas (@$3.00gl. no way can you not count that) add it all up see if it is worth it to you for $294.00....my guess is no.

My dealer told me if they do the mods they will cover it...any mods. If I do the mods, no warranty if at all suspected of the issue at hand..oh and the owner of this particular dealer is an aquintence of mine. Blake Mits. North Hampton NH.

Good luck

Craig

Im pretty layed back over here at Riverside Mitsu and I sure as hell would not cover it. For one you could have ran race gas in the car and that kills the sensors. Also you have a few mods that could change A/F ratios which can kill sensors as well..
