Your Warranty Experience

I searched didn't see a SPECIFIC warranty thread, so I thought I'd make one. If you guys know of one could you link it and lock this thread?

Anywayz, I wanted everyone to post up their experiences they've had with their dealerships and warranties. I'm going to be contacting mitsu today about the 5th gear synchro issue hoping they'll honor the TSB. I bought an 04 Evo used with about 9800 miles on it and now I have about 20K miles. My clutch started slipping and I started experiencing 5th gear grind within a few months of owning the car. (Assuming the cause is due to the previous owner beating the crap out of it.) I took the car to mitsu to see if the clutch was slipping and they said, "Nope, enjoy your Evo." I took it to about 5 tranny shops and one shop that specializes in Mitsu and they said it was definitely slipping. So I had the clutch replaced with an ACT Street Disc seeing as though warranty won't cover a wear item. But now that I have the ACT kit I'm afraid that the dealer is gonna say that I'M the one who caused the grinding issue. I've never had the car on the track, I DON'T launch it, and I don't really beat the crap out of it either. I DO push it sometimes, but hey, who doesn't?

Anywho, maybe I'll get lucky and hit one of the "good" dealers and they will help me out. I'm fairly upset that the dealer told me there was nothing wrong with my clutch, but as soon as I get it replaced, the slipping stops. Go figure.

I will be calling today to see whether I get an *** raping or some help, and will post up my "warranty experience."

Dealership replaced synchros, springs, etc no questions asked. On the other hand, they did a poor job of bolting up the tranny after they finished. When I took it back to have them tighten down 2 bolts that they left loose, they moved my the airbox and forgot to flip up one of the clips, so it was stuck underneath the uicp. So after 2 extra times of going up there it worked out I guess. Now, my pass. side rear strut is going on me, we will see how they do with replacing that...maybe the wheel will fall off after service(not that I am bitter about the situation).

I purchased my evo used but the guy that bought it new bought the extended warranty. I had to pay a $50 transfer charge to get it moved to my name. The warranty is though a third party company I think out of Florida. It has an eight page contract that is very confusing to read. I like having the piece of mind that i'm covered, but I know what ever goes wrong will probally not be covered. I was reading some part in the contract that if you have a problem, they have to authorize the repair and where you can have it repaired at. It seems like a pain in the butt to get any work done. Does anyone have any experience with getting work done though the extended warranty program???

I talked to the dealer here in VA Beach and he said that they are more than willing to take a look at it. He knows it's a common problem with Evo's. I also talked to him about bad experiences with previous Mitsu dealers and he seemed sympathetic to the situation. So I have an appt. for next Monday at 9:30am to take it in.

Water pump Warranty

As the title states my water pump is leaking and i noticed a puddle on the floor in my garage after i got home the other nite. i also then looked in the engine bay and realized there is dried up antifreeze in the engine bay and by the water pump. i literally just got off the phone with the dealereship and they said bring it on in and we will take care of it. So hopefully everything goes ok with this.

Has anyone else had problems with this?

I haven't had your issue, but post up your experience with the warranty when it's all said and done.

I have a thread for it.

Here was my situation, I bought the ext. warrenty from dealer for about 1200 or so.
6 mo. later, I'm in the middle canceling it. my philosophy about the ext. warrenty is that if something brakes in mistu stock warrenty they hassle me over it. (in which my drives seat broke with 250 mi. on car and they we'er questing weather I did it.) what happens when the dealer isn't getting the money from mistu to fix the car when the mistu warrenty is over.
They would try and find reasons not to cover me regaurdless of mods.
becuase they get nothing for covering the car... they make 100% profit off ext. warrenty with this car and they know it.

Dont get caught up in the bull****.
Cause if you blow a piston or something like that, the district well tell you to pay up to fix your engine.

Probably have, but they probably check if the spring had been taken out for an aftermarket one that could've caused the damage to the shocks.

Everything is covered, just got off the phone with the dealership, and they are replacing my water pump and i will have my car back tomorrow. They didn't give me any grief about any of my mods or anything, just pure failure on mitsu's fault, bad product.

Sorry to say this for everyone that has had a bad experience, but my dealership gets a

very pleased (so far)

Warranty service question. How long...

...does Mitsubishi get to make an obvious and agreed-upon fix?

My rear window wiper went out a couple of months back. The service dept. had a look and said it was the motor and that they'd order one.

Not only can these bucketheads not find the part, they don't seem to be too concerned about it.

I realize this is not the biggest deal but:

1. in rainy Seattle-area a rear wiper is a very nice thing
2. it's my effin' car and I want it to work per warranty

At what point do I walk into the dealership and start squeaking loudly?

Id start phoning them asking if they got the part in yet, and ask them when it is due. Once they get it in, you should be able to have it installed in a week.

If you dont get any help, ask to speak to the owner/get their number.
