I still wouldn't trust it. Remember the district rep. has to approve most warranty work.

Make your own contract and make him sign it.

Not entirely true. Each dealer has an authorization level that is set by MMNA. It's determined by how much the dealer spends on warranty work, their CSI score, the percentage of cars fixed right the first time and other items. MMNA uses those thing to determine if the dealer can self authorize at certain $$$ levels without calling the rep to get the ok on a repair. There are 5 levels of self authorization and we are at #4 by our choice. We could be at full authorization but the factory is very critical of dealers with that level and it's not worth the trouble. It's better for us and our customers if we are at #4. Depending on their level of authorization they can self-authorize spending different amounts of $$$ for warranty claims. In a normal situation the rep only gets a summary report on each individual dealer and if anything exceeds the guidelines of that particular level then it sends up a flag and the rep will ask questions of the dealer, in particular the service manager. For all claims on a vehicle that is out of normal warranty the rep has to be contaced regardless of the dealers auth level. The rep then will either approve all or part of the out of warranty claim and assign it a specific # that the warranty department looks for before they will pay an out of warranty claim.

For those of you that support the dealership in ways OTHER than just buying your car from them, the dealer is more likely to help you in a out of warranty situation than if you just buy the car and kick them to the curb. If they have a high auth level they can help you without asking the rep. Our rep, when asked for out of warranty type help ALWAYS asks if the vehicle has been to a dealer for its services, have they been on time and have they supported the dealer. If they have not supported the dealer and indirectly MMNA then the rep will sometimes, but not always, decline to help. IF the car has been serviced according to MMNA at a dealer and it can be proved, the rep will help them 95% of the time. If you support the dealer and you have a good rep with them they will go to bat for you. If you are a pain in the *** and you never take the car in for any maintenance then they most likely will tell you to go pound sand. That is why it's good for you to have a good relationship with the dealer. It's really no different than any other relationship.

Sorry for the long post but there are a lot of people on this site that think there is a blank check just waiting for them when they need some help.

Mountain Mitsubishi is just the latest of Authorized WORKS Dealers. We regularly do business with a number of northern California Mitsubishi dealers that install our components while keeping the original warranty intact.

There are three problems here. One is the fact that the sensor was not available, the other is the length of time since getting the sensor, if they have?, and if that fixed it. Could you update us? I just checked and the PDC has them in stock, so I assume that the dealer has it?

OMFG, HIDs and Tails Definitely caused your O2 sensor problem, how could you DARE ask Mitsu for warranty work.

Yeah, that blows hard but seems to be absolutely everyone's experience. I'm pretty much assuming I have no warranty.

lancerdealer-thanks for a very imformative post i will be sure to utilize next time i need any work done.

works-when are you getting a dealership in Chicago to do this for us? i nominate Max Madsen. they have at least 3 sites in the Chitown area. and mine is already mod friendly.

op-if you don't trust your dealer is telling you the truth, you should recosider buying anything from them. imagine soemthing breaks. are you going to believe they diagnosed the problem correctly, or that they are not lying to their dist. rep. about your mods, or they are not lying to you about the rep. voiding your warranty? i trust my dealer when he says he won't void my warranty for x mod. and i have yet to have a problem they did not fix. even before i purchased my evo from them, they worked on my elcipse that broke, while i was home for thanksgiving, under warranty, even though the car was bought out of state.

I finally got the car back... and it's the 6th week. Yeah, you're correct with the 02 sensor being in back order, that's the reason why I had to wait so long...

Other than that, there are some other problems that the dealership did, and i'm currently in the process of writing a formal comlaint letter. One thing that annoyed me was the fact that I was eligable to get a rental car, and I requested it from the mitsu2005 number. They gave me the run-around telling me that they'll call back when they have more info on that. 6 weeks without a car is extremely annoying. How much is insurance a month to you? Imagine throwing that away because of something like this...

Did you rent a car? If you have a contract agreement guaranteeing you a rental at their cost, AND you rented a car, then you should have no problem suing them in small claims court. I doubt you could get reimbursed for insurance costs, but add that to the suit as well. The judge will decide.

Check the contract where you claim that a rental is guaranteed. They might have a statement in it that waives your right to sue and forces you to go to arbitration. If that is the case, then you probably can't sue them in small claims court.

I really don't understand Mitsu. Do they not get it? Do they not know that they are already not in a very good situation, so therefore should change. It's one thing when dealers provide bad service but Mitsu as a company should know better. It's like talking to stupid people, but instead it's a stupid company.

should have come to mymitsubishi in salinas.. they were selling all IXs for 500 above invoice from the beginning, including the MR.. and they also have excellet service.. this isnt mitsu that is doing this to you.. its the dealership. suddenly a dealership that had cheap cars that didnt require much money to service, suddenly have a high mantience sports car on the lot that costs alot of money to repair and needs alot of attention.
