dont waste your time bringing it to the dealer unless they did all the work on the car. ive had my t/c, trans., rebuilt under warranty but i had the dealer do all the work. i even had them install my excedy twin. they told me when i bought the car if they did all the mods they would cover anything that went wrong with the car even if it was my fault (abuse). i couldve saved a ton of money if i did all the mods myself but in the end if anything broke i know i would be screwed.I asked the service rep if you guys do all the work on the car and i take it to the track and blow the motor or break the t/c or trans. your telling me you cover it under warranty and he said absolutely and they stuck to theyre word.that was my 03. the dealer is healey mitsubishi in goshen NY.

I think what you're describing is the same symptoms I have on my '03. When moving from a dead stop in 1st gear ONLY, I have a loud whining noise, however, when I shift to 2nd or neutral, the whine disappears for good. I have an ACT HDSS clutch; I have no idea what it is at this time...

I don't understand why everyone says "don't waste your time at the dealership". Plenty of stories of people getting repairs approved with major mods. Unless your nearest dealer is 500 miles away or you make $2000 an hour, it's definitely not a waste of time to try.

thanks for comments guys

thinking the leak is from the drive shaft seal
it was making it before the clutch job, so got the seal from the dealer and had it replaced during clutch job
went to dealer today to talk about the warranty issue
and found out that the seal they gave me was a wrong one!!
so good chance that the leak is from this seal again, so i ordered the correct seal and will get it replaced soon, hope this will take care of the leak

mrcox, i rememberd u have tilton in ur car too
u hear lots of noise that sounds pretty bad too?
cuz for mine, it drives totaly fine, except for the whinning noise at 1st gear or slipping clutch when changing gears

for the warranty, since i had my clutch done elsewhere, there's no warranty anymore i think

Question Transfer Case Warranty!

I've recently gotten the infamous T-Case whine in my 05 Evo. At first it started very quietly, and now it's pretty loud. 16,000 miles on the car. My 2nd gear synchro is also starting to go bad. I took it into the dealership this morning, and I'm waiting for them to call me to let me know what's up, but I'm worried that they're going to refuse warranty work because of my mods.

I have a full TB exhaust, no cat, an MBC, exhaust manifold, lowering springs, and battery relocated to the trunk.

Is there anything in those mods that can make them void my warranty for the transfer case? I don't think any of that affects the t-case at all, but I wanted to get others opinions....

Here's crossing my fingers that they replace my t-case and synchos under warranty!!

I had my car modded with intake, bov, exhaust, electronic boostcontoller when i broke my TC.

They covered it under warranty!!

dont really know how.. i guess i just got lucky. It helps I had been in there for 5th gear synchros and the tech guy was a really decent guy.
They still had to get it approved by region manager but my guess is the cool tech guy helped me out bigtime.

Well, I got a call back from the dealership. They told me the whining sound was normal, but they don't want to cover my synchro under warranty!!!

I'm making an appointment to talk to the district manager about it, is there anything I can go in there armed with to argue that it should still be covered with my mods? I'm trying to say that the mods I put on have no effect on the wear of the synchro, so it should still be covered. I know people here said that they were covered with similar mods. Any ideas??

Have some transmission specialty shops look at your car...and get thier opinion. If you go in unarmed, you'll lose no matter what.

thats a load of crap. the 5th gear grind is a very well known bug that most ppl have gotten and they even have a TSB on it.
