Do you work for a Mitsu dealer? I'm asking because I work for a Honda dealer and the service department makes quite a bit of money from warranty claims, legitimately no less.

If Mitsu pays much less than the dealer's standard labor rate, that might explain why many dealers give bad service.

I second that. Lawsuits are a big reason why cars are so expensive these days. I highly suggest, to the original poster and others who have not done so, get in touch with MMNA customer service before doing anything else.

ALL of the issues brought up in the original post - with the exception of the seat back cracking - I had repaired by Mitsu. Under warranty, with NO hassles, on an obviously modded car. When I took it in to have the calipers replaced I still had the race tires on from an auto-x the previous day and not a word was said. The fact that I got warranty work done and others do not should be the crux of a lawsuit, not you getting warranty work done on a used car notorious for having warranty work denied. This is one case where you would have been better off buying from a dealer and working out the details of any warranty issues up front.

see you guys are going about this the wrong way. what you guys should be doing is boycotting or suing the aftermarket company. and when I say aftermarket I don't mean just the performance aftermarket either. EVERYTHING is aftermarket unless it is a Mitsu part. Oil filters, air filters, shocks all those parts you get at your local parts store is aftermarket. "We're suing you cause you sold us an inferior product to what Mitsu sells and it voided my warranty"

Trust me if you go that route you'll get A LOT more repsonse from Mitsu. You put pressure on the aftemarket companies they'll start pressing Mitsu.

i'm waiting now for a national center for dispute resolution decision on my brake calipers. pr*ck mid-atlantic rep claims i used acid wheel cleaner on my wheels! (never used anything but meguires car wash, by hand) i was supposed to hear from them by now, i will call tomorrow and if it ain't good, COUNT ME IN! yea, they say doesn't hurt the performance of the brakes, my argument, if all the paint fell off the car after 22k mi, it would still run as well... just couldn't get as much when i try to sell the car.

Better hope MMNA doesn't research this website and some of the posts here as part of their defense, or you'll be screwed big time. i.e. researching non-Mitsu approved fluids for vital drivetrain components.....
thats not true. im a mechanic and warranty work is better than no work. the difference isnt that much. ex: insted of .9 hrs you'll get .6 , or insted of 8hrs you'll get 6hrs which is still 95% of the time much more than you need to complete the job.

work is kinda slow and techs are definatly willing to do warranty work. from what i understand its a general rep over a wide area that decides what the dealership will and wont warranty on the evos .

Maybe the 04 RS EVO's are special, but I've never had problems. The brembos are perfect. The tranny has no problems. No problems with my paint.

BTW, I clean my brakes with soap and water, no harsh cleaners.

More power to you brother. Given track record for dealing with customer warranty issues I would have gone to the lawsuit myself. A customer shouldnt have to deal with the B.S. past the dealer level (contacting the district rep., contacting corp., etc.). Keep us posted PLEASE.
