Acutually, u get the basic warranty transfer...and if you go through the same dealer that the original owner bought the car from..the dealership will offer to sell the extended warranty to the new buyer. But it's gonna cost the new owner...probably over a grand. I just went throught all this. I sold my 2003 Ford Focus ZTS to a guy I work with to buy my 2003 Evo. He had to buy the extended warranty from the ford dealership since it was the same one I bought the car from new. And it was the same dealership that had the Evo and since it only had 1,800 miles on it when I bought it a couple months ago, they were gonna offer me the extended warranty plus maintenance since it was still practically new. But that was gonna charge me close to 2K for it, and I was already paying 23K for the Evo.

the intake really depends on dealership but it really shouldn't. As far as the exhaust as long as it's a cat-back your good. Technically mitsu can't void your warrenty unless they can prove with physical evidence that your aftermarket part caused the damage. Do some research and you'll find what i'm talking about.

Question Warranty Claims?

How many times have you had your Evo VIII into the dealer for warranty claims and what concerns were you trying to have resolved? Second were you satisfied with the service you recieved?

Catback voids warranty? 2005 MR questions

I heard from a source that a simple catback would void my warranty on my 2005 Evo MR. Any pros know if this is true?

I'd prefer to get a turboback, but I'm sure that would void the warranty. Where would I find how feels about this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

-Steve

PS I just bought my MR and am looking to personalize it a bit, while keeping the warranty. Any other advice? Thanks again.

Don't you think it's better to ask the dealership than us? Nobody here knows what your dealership will do. In my area, we have 5 or 6, but we all go to the one we know will not hassle us for our mods unless it's obvious the mods caused the broken part(s).

Steve,

I have an 05 MR as well. The dealership here in indy told me that it only voids the warranty on that specific part. When i put a turboback exhaust on my car it only voided the warranty on my exhaust. They also told me that if something does mess up with the car, they have to prove that, that specific part caused the damage. I have looked into this and discussed this with other evo owners on this board and they have told me that the dealership wont touch there car after they modded it. So i guess it would depend on your dealership and how they handle the warranties there. Hopefully this info will help.

The " warranty topic" has been beaten to death to many times, do a search. Cant void overall warranty, they might try, but they cant by law. Have to prove what you modded caused the problem * magnuson & moss warranty act*
