Are cops attracted to the average Evo or average Evo driver?
Knock on wood... I haven't had any problems with cops in the almost 3 years I've owned my IX. It's got hot pink wheels, sponsor decals all over (it's a race car afterall), and TBE (catless) on e85. Been pulled over twice. Both for speeding at 15+ over the limit, so my fault. Other than that, I don't even get looked at by cops. Could be the Stanford Alumni license plate frame...
You know whats funny as well. Just thought about this. Another time I got pulled over... I had my windshield replaced so no inspection stickers.. I am in PA... Cop pulls me over and says you know your windows are tinted. Mind you I bought the car that way and they are 30% so you can see right in. Oh and I had my windows down... So he starts to harass me a bit asks my passenger aka my girlfriend for her ID. NO clue why.. Then says my exhaust was to loud.. No mind you the entire time I am thinking why isn't he noticing I don't have any inspection stickers.
All my stuff checks out and he goes don't let me see you around here zipping up and down the street. Now I was not speeding and was driving normal. I said I LIVE HERE gonna be hard not to see me... He let me go with nothing but still never noticed that I didn't have any inspection stickers. I have alot of respect for police and what they do but this really does not support my opinion. I didn't do anything to warrant them pulling me over....

I've owned my car for almost 3 years now. 100% daily driven in NYC. My car isn't that loud compared to a lot of other evos I've been around, even with full exhaust(manifold, O2 housing, down pipe, test pipe, HKS Carbon Ti catback), so I guess that helps. I never get pulled over for the way I drive, I drive from A to B like a grandma because it's my daily and I need things to last. I do get on the car every now and then though. I just try to be smart about it and it's been working out for me so far.
However, I will say this - I used to get HAMMERED by police before I got rid of my tinted windows and put my front plate on. I bought my car with 20% window tint on it and used to get pulled over roughly 4 times a week average. I was always polite and respectful and most of the time got let go. IMO it was the combination of the car being black w/ black wheels, with tints, HID's with yellow fogs, and an exhaust that got me in the crosshairs over and over again. Evos are pretty rare where I am, so I guess mine standing out like that made it a big deal or something. Bottom line is I haven't gotten pulled over since I got the tints removed, and this was almost 2 years ago. Still have the wing, still have the exhaust. I guess what's important is whatever the LEO's in your area look to bust people for. Find out, and remove yourself from that. You should be okay.

i actually got a ticket on sunday. i recently bought my evo out of state and was really driving it for the first time after i got it insured and registered so i am goin to meet up at the park with some friends, and i pull into the parking lot and i notice some flashing lights when i end up parking. the cop was undercover in like a silver impala or something like that and he said i pulled into the parking lot too quickly and i missed the stop comming in. i didnt miss the stop because i was actually driving a bit fast on the way to the park and made sure to make the stop, plus the cop was parked all the way on the other side of the parking lot so i am sure he couldnt have had a good view of the stop anywyas. so he ended up giving me a court summons and i am certain it is because of the car. my friend who gets pulled over all the time and actually missed the stop in his altima came before me and nothing. i guess its a mix between the car and my age for me, because i am only 20 so they think younger drivers are an easy target :-/
Others mentioned not having tint which I think is good example. Usually when I roll up next to a cop I have the windows down and give him a waive. Being a 30 year old white male also helps the situation
I was even given the benefit of the doubt for not having my updated tabs on. One officer pulled up next to me in town and said, "You know your tab is missing? Someone must of stole it." Reality was I forgot to put it on but he didn't even waste time pulling me over.

It really depends on the driver. The Evo demands attention from just about everybody, and unfortunately, cops too. I been pulled over so many times for some of the dumbest s**t. They all know what we drive. But of course cops don't profile.
Out of every 5 cops that i encounter 3 get behind me to run my tag even when i'm chillin' minding my own business, last time i got pulled over the cop had to use my hid's as an excuse telling me it was illegal to put hid's in a car that didn't come with them from the factory(i drive an 03 GSR) so after explaining to him that my hid's are OEM equipment and wasting my time for 20 min. he finally realized how dumb he was starting to look and he let me go,i try to keep trusting law enforcement but it's getting harder and harder to do every day.
Three things that would take the majority of unwanted attention away are:
1. Going wingless
2. Stock looking/quiet exhaust
3. No tints or rolling your front windows down when driving
You will be ignored most of the time if you follow these simple rules! Of course I don't lol, but I try to drive on low RPM's around cops with my windows down.

I've been pulled over 3 times in the car, ticketed once, and I've been ticket-free for a year and a few months now. It's all in how you drive. My tags get run regularly. I've passed cops doing 5 over (as per usual) and not been bothered. I wave when I see them, and usually get return waves, and I think they appreciate the courtesy instead of the usual fear from surrounding traffic.
When I do get pulled over, I have my ID, insurance, and registration ready, car off, hands in my lap, interior lights on if it's dark. I'm calm, courteous, and truthful, and I usually try to keep the attitude and atmosphere of the stop as light as I can without appearing to take it as a joke. And I get off with warnings. These guys deal with bull**** and attitudes all day, and all they need is one cooperative and respectful bright spot to put them in a better mood, for at least the time being.

I had the Oz wing installed by the dealer on my VIII when I bought it new in hopes of staying under the radar (and seeing out back window better to spot rolling cops) - it must have helped compared to my OEM wing'd buddies who seem to get pulled over more...
