Are cops attracted to the average Evo or average Evo driver?
I use to get followed all the time by cops whether they be local or troopers and by people who wants to race. Since I took my wing off and debadged her, I don't see any of that anymore. I even had someone tell me how nice my Lancer looks like and how it KIND of looks like an Evo.

in my ix rs i rarely ever get harassed by cops i love the wingless look and ive got a ton of compliments from people saying "i love how you took the wing off" i just laugh and say it never came with one haha
just dont make a scene when u drive. cops follow me but they dont do anything because i dont do anything. no loud exhaust, no speeding, no revving etc.
i still have the wing on mine too, free flowing quiet exhaust and its dropped.

id say the average evo driver, theyll drive behind me i stay in vacuum under 2500 rpms dependin on speed for the gear. when they pull up next to me or drive by me, i just wave at them and keep bobbin my head to the music. when you look nervous or like your hiding somethin, thats what usually gets ya pulled over. But im sure there easy on me after they run my plate and find all my tickets throughout the years haha... simple dont drive like an asshat maintain speed and use your blinker, unless the cops a dick hes got more important stuff to tend to then you.
Japanese police just don't care. There are shacks along the main roads, you want to be romping on it, bouncing off the rev limiter? Go ahead, they wont turn their head. Want to do 120km in a 60? Go ahead, they will pull you over and tell you "too fast, slow down!" Loud exhaust, straight pipes, no problem. There are so very few police vehicles, you nearly never see them. There are however, speed cameras. They are very annoyingly placed everywhere. If you are going over 120km you will get a ticket in the mail for nearly 1000USD.

Haven't been pulled over since 2003 in CT. No wing, buschar exhaust, red tails, no stickers, no tints, no gauge pod. The only thing that makes my car get attention is the fact that it idles loud with the cams. I'm a 25 year old young professional. I don't feel like I would be profiled to be pulled over but I do always feel like no matter how "regular" looking my evo looks when a cop sees the hood or the FMIC or even the stock HID headlights it raises an eye brow to them. The wing is a def give away which is why mine is gone. I'm trying to blend in with the rest of the cattle. I usually don't drive like an ahole either, I think that's the key to most of our woes.
I have never had this kind of harassment from cops, must be the area you live in. I've had tinted windows, lowered, and loud exhaust on my MS3. I managed to get pulled over, but it was my own admitted fault, got my ticket, and went on my way without the cop saying a word about the car.
It's all about how you handle yourself in a professional manner, not acting like a tool or a child. I think most cops are just out there doing their jobs, can't hate on them for it.

Over here in Florida its the exhaust that attracts them. I think I've got about 3 tickets for my exhaust since I've been here so I re-installed the stocker. I blame the general public for not understanding the whole performance upgrade scene. All they see is a "noisemaker".

My Take:
My first car was Oldsmobile Alero, discrete, slow, average, every day car. In that car, I could drive 9-10mph over the speed limit and not really have to worry about the cops because we'll, in a line up of cars, my car wouldn't look any different from 99% of other cars on the road.
When I started to talk to my GF about buying an evo and stuff she was worried about me speeding and getting in trouble, but the fact of the matter is, I drive that car slower than my oldsmobile. And I know I have to because of the attention I grab.
Think about it. When you're walking on the sidewalk or sitting in a restaurant, and you hear a loud exhaust roll by, doesn't your ears perk up and you take notice of what is rolling by. This is the same thing for cops. Moral of the story is that now, driving the evo, I actually come to COMPLETE stops and stop signs, drive EXACTLY the speed limit and try my best to stay out of the passing lane on the high way.
The fact is, you gotta drive the evo slower than you would drive a minivan, and the cops will leave you alone because unfortunately, if you drive AS fast as the minivan, the cop, a majority of the time, is going to THINK you're speeding, just because of the "because racecar" factors of your car.
Just very carefully choose your WOT spots and you should be okay.

I did a little test a while back. I got pulled over three times in a month for pity little things in a new city I moved to. So, I took off the wing to see if thats what it was. I didn't get pulled over in a period of 5 months.
Put the wing back on last month, and got pulled over for something small again
Cops dont profile though
