Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]

Make sense now?
I thought 4G63's were bulletproof. How many cases of engine failure on this board so far?
Also, I don't think being down a quart of oil could lead to engnie failure (though I could be wrong). If so, how bulletproof could it be?

Many things happened. Well this is what we think happened. The head gasket was damaged early on in a high speed run on the high way. Then the E-Manage would randomly advance the timing and push the head gasket. Also the factory studs were not strong enough to hold all the power and the random timing advancements.
So what was the cost to fix it?

oh srry, I forgot that part. Well I got a new EVO VIII motor from a an EVO that got totalled on a test drive. It was $4000 for the long block (no pumps manifolds, turbo, ecu or tranny) Then the RMR six puck that I had in the car was missing chunks so that had to be replaced with an Exedy Hyper single disc, that was $1050. Then about $2000 in labor which include R&R motor and diagnose the old motor to find out the problems. Turns out that the block was cracked, blown piston and rod, and also scorched the head pretty bad.
Some of you guys need tinfoil hats to go with your stupid conspiracy theories.
Clearly, logic eludes you. Why the hell would someone take a car that doesn't run right (or probably not at all considering a broken piston) to a shop to be MODDED? That assumption has to be the dumbest thing I've read all day.
Nice try guessing though, but next time at least use logic in your assumptions.

So about 7k that's not TOO to bad. I think as time goes on you can get one for about 1/2 that maybe?

Mistu has been good to me. Car was rattling. Tech put it on the ramp saw it was the RMR brace hitting the RMR Dp and he rebent the brace to clear it better and said have fun racing. They have been cool to me at Miller Mitsu in Los Angeles, sorry to hear about ur car

I’ve always had that motto in my mind for as long as I could remember, until I purchased the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the car. It’s been a dream of mine to own one ever since middle school, when I went to Taiwan to see my uncle, and was greeted by a beautiful Lancer Evolution V. I was hooked on the EVO bug, and words cannot begin to explain the joy I had when I heard news of the EVO coming to the states. The EVO is the epitome of my automotive desires, and I am not alone in saying that.
However, my dream was mutilated, stomped on, and utterly shred to pieces as if it were fed into a corporation’s favorite paper shredder. That corporation was none other than Mitsubishi. You see, 7 months and 7,000 miles after owning my beautiful Tarmac Black EVO VIII, my motor met a gruesome end. You may think “why is this guy crying, it’s covered under warranty.” However, it’s not. Why? Well, Mitsu says customer neglect, leading to not enough oil in the engine, and instead of trying to help me out, they accuse me of modifying the car (it’s stock) and tell me tough luck. Customer neglect?! You tell me where the “neglect” is when I had the dealership change my oil, spent $50 on Zaino Bros. car polish, bought the extended warranty, routinely washed the car on weekends, manually turbo timed the turbo, spending 2 minutes extra waiting in the car letting everything cool down every time before shutting the car off. In other words, I pampered a WRC car.
It even turns out that low oil wasn’t the cause of the engine failure. The independent shop says broken piston from who knows why, since they’re not allowed to take the motor apart, as it would void the warranty, the same one that has not lived up to my expectations. Also, the cost is much more than what my bank account would allow. I’ve tried to fight this, but a double major in college and limited money prevents me from fixing my baby. I have been without her for 2 weeks, and she sits at a shop with a broken heart.
I am not the only one who’s had a warranty denied by an evil corporation that tries to sell an image it is not willing to back it up. There are many others in similar situations as me, from clutch failure before 5k miles, tranny deaths, to rust developing on 3 month old cars. I write to you in hopes that those potential EVO owners rethink their decisions, as I do not wish the nightmare I am going through on anyone else. Those who have had no problems, do not take your car for granted, as it is a car that is a legend. It is a car with a soul, carried on generation after generation. As for me, I will keep hope alive, and hope for the best.

EDIT: avoid the mitsu dealerships in orlando florida, like don mealey mitsubishi aka sport mitsubishi. they will lie to you right in the face.

First of all I will say flat out I work at Don Mealey mitsubishi. You traded in a blue 2003 wrx with 12,000 miles, a toasted clutch, and bald tires. Your car had injen intake, turbo timer. You took me for a ride in your wrx just when you traded it and launched the car hard. I know you drove your evo rough. When you blew your EVO clutch you got a loaner car from us. You also treated that car with such care as all the seats were burned from cigs.
When your evo came in for the clutch the tires were already bald. As far as I can tell you know nothing about how to treat an expensive high performance machine. EVEN ONE THAT YOUR MOMMY BOUGHT FOR YOU! You are just a kid who has not worked a day in your rich little life. Your mom wanted to pay cash for the car but we convinced her to finance . You don't make car payments, she does. So don't come on this board with such a distorted picture. You are just a rich little ***** THAT JUST TURNED 18. You need to learn to appreciate what is GIVEN to you.

lolrof well maybe mommy will pay for the motor too.
Do you see a lot of 18 year old punks with evo's? I bet most that tear them up did not pay for them or else they would treat them better.

Hrm, Abit vulgar for an official viewpoint; but nevertheless informative. Although I am curious how your engine bit the dust. The one thing I believe is near "unbreakable" in my car is it's engine. (Properly tuned for mod levels)
