Oops (sheepish =). It's a bummer about the Supra, wish it was still around, but yeah it's a monster. I know a girl with an S2000 that when I spoke to her about keeping the rev's up to make it go she just kinda looked at me like a goat. Those are also specialty cars, like the Evo. I'm not in this one for resale to be honest, this is like an $80,000 Porsche without luxury and fine materials, but every bit it's equal underneath.

Wow, well if it's good enough for Peter Blach, it's certainly good enough for lil' ol' me!

I was in the same boat your in two months ago! Because the price of the Evo was less damaging to my budget, and the dealer let me take it on a test drive. I decided to take the Evo. I have yet to drive a STI, when I tried the dealer said no... I'm still curious though.

i guess some people are willing to buy a car without test driving it, I am not going to plunk down 35-36 grand of my hard earned money for a car I havent driven. I think its completely unreasonable to ask someone to buy a car soley based on specs and magazine reviews...

You must be a better driver because an STi is definately faster in a straight line, especially at speeds over 80mph. I've talked to several guys that have raced stock EVO's vs stock STi's and everyone of them said that around 4th gear ( 75mph or so in an STi) the STi started walking away. At speeds over 100mph, the STi pulled away even harder.

It is also becoming common knowledge that the EVO is easier to drive for most people and is faster in the twisties. So if your racing around a track an EVO should have the edge, but in a straight line an STi will win everytime drivers being equal.

Since it's so close performance-wise, go with the one that makes you smile more when you see it.

I was dead-set on getting an STi until I found out about the 2.5L motor. Not a lot of parts for it yet and also it's still unproven. The 4G63 in the Evo is VERY proven with a lot of parts available. If you plan to keep it stock for a while, this won't matter.

Check my website (listed in sig) for pics of my black Evo with a neighbors black STi. When we took the pictures I was stock. He is still stock and runs 14.3 in it (best). Having a badass car doesn't mean you'll be able to achieve what people in magazines claim.

Of course, I'm worlds ahead of him now performance wise.

I thought his tranny was "loose" and the seats were nowhere near as good as the Evo's. His cluster gauges were better, and the paint quality was better. His hoodscoop and wing also shook noticeably at highway speeds, but it didn't really bother me.

I think it's going to be obvious that most people on this board prefer the Evo over the STi since we all made the choice in favor of the Evo when we purchased. Both are killer cars!

You're on a Evo forum, so everyone will say Evo is the best choice.

But since you paying for your car, so I will encourage you to trust your own instinct. Both STI and Evo is a great car of the century. So either car you choose will be the greatest one.

Good luck on your hunt and I wish you choose Evo over STI.

You've come to "Evolutionm.net" to ask Evolution owners which car you should buy...

I'm betting that you're going to hear a lot of responses telling you to go with the EVO.

One thing I can say, after seeing a blue STi (gold wheels) on the road last week, I'm 100% glad that I got the EVO. Sure it may be a few ticks slower stock, but at least it doesn't have that GOD-AWFUL hood scoop...and yeah, I liked it sitting there looking at one, but to see it on the road, that's the only thing you see.

EVO wins in the looks department - hands down!
