Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]
IRG rating is what the insurance companies use to determine the cost of insurance for the car.
The more performance, turbo's, the cost of replacement parts, the value all go into the IRG rating.
A 911 Turbo is an IRG of 48
A Corvette Z06 is an IRG of 42
A chevy luv pickup is an IRG of 8
The reason the audi is so high is that in the winter the corvettes and porsches are in the garage under the cover and the Audi's are out on the road.

STi vs Evo DYNO GRAPHS!
Well, I took the liberty of photoshopping the two dynographs and transposed them onto each other. Here they are... this is stock vs stock and stg1 vs stg1.
STOCK VS STOCK
STG1 VS STG1
The STi has mad torque on us.

The STi does have more torque, but so does a Cobra. If you want to stay stock, the subie is for you.
But modding, it is already a fact that you need to rebuild the STIs thin cylinder walls to have a reliable 400whp dailay driver (go to nasioc if you dont believe me).
How about a 20-21psi 9000RPM revving beast? You only see those around on race cars, and guess what, you can do that to our EVOs too w ease!
It always boils down to what you want - more torque but w a 7000 (maybe) redline, or a torquey 9000RPMs ride!

One test has the STi .1/sec faster on the 1320'...
I'll take the
gearing and boost any day
29 hp & 27 tq...who cares?

I'm staying stock...and I still prefer the Evo
yet another evo vs sti thread

Just curious what the comments would be had this person posted on the EVO forum

I would hope the comments would be similiar...I don't think there are many true performance car enthusiasts who don't think both cars are sweet...
I know it was a tough decision for me
Props to the guys on the scooby board for being so honest

i saw evo over sti.... if the sti is anything at all like the wrx... then yes evo... rhys millen, in the may 2004 issue of Import Tuner says.. they the evo is better then the WRX(not the sti) but once again... IF IT IS ANY THING LIKE THE WRX, the EVO is my choice over the STi....plus if you have see mitsu WRC04 that right there is the new "evo9" in japan late 04... that mean in us... early 05.... we may have a new EVO9!! and according the the articles i have read... the New EVO9 will have 300+ H.P. and 300+ TQ! i don't remember exact #'s but they were 300 or more! another point i would like to make..... when the evo released it had 271 hp.... then a few months later..... STi released... if u understand what im sayin... if not... this meas subaru had some time to develop a more powerful car to compete with... Mitsu couldn't change the EVO afterward.... THE NEW EVO "9" will surely be 1 that is different.....
