Its all bench racing right now, and just about as useful.

Sit back, watch what happens to both cars over the next year. I get the feeling there'll be a lot of surprises on both sides.

I personally hope the STi tunes well, more reason for people to be competitive with the Evo. Competition is good.

I hope there is a relliart version of the EVO, just needs the HP, and STI is a done deal.

My God things are not pretty over there Everything from complete denial to people who think more understeer is better. The fact that the STi has more understeer has been well documented in the Foreign mags for years somehow they hoped that our car was worse because we lost ACD/AYC but as Claudius has stated from the beginning we got the best handling set-up there is. STi is a better car on paper but the EVO is better than the sum of it's part's. Round one goes to the EVO

People keep on throwing out the 14.5-psi (STi) vs. the 19-psi (Evo) like that matters any - psi does not necessarily equal psi.

Example: (fd example because that's what I am most familiar with)
13b stock twins at 15 psi = 300 rwhp, give or take
13b with T78 single at 15 psi = 400+ conservative rwhp

Its not just about the PSI, its about the cfm of the snail. To the best of my knowledge the STi and the Evo are running two completely different turbos, so you cannot compare the psi as a performance/tuning factor.

Ya know, who cares about displacement when it comes to tuning. The big thing is that the 4g63 has been around for years. There's TONS of parts already available for it, and most of all the 2g Eclipse stuff that has been pushing those cars to extreme limits can easily be adapted to this as well.

With the STI, most all new stuff will have to be made. 2.5L engine moves stuff around, re-routes stuff and whatnot.

The 4g63 has been the standard "tuner" engine for the last decade.

For me it came down to 4 things: handling, engine tuning potential/ proven reliability, overall looks, and impatience. The first 2 are well documented in several magazines. This engine is pretty much bulletproof to easily 400hp on stock internals. The last one is ironic since 3 weeks after I bought my evo, I was sent half way round the world for 3 months. Talk about torture!!! Anyway, you can't go wrong with either one, but I think you'll find most people here will say evo all the way, and rightfully so IMHO.

rumors have been floating around that MMC has been lending out ringer cars to the press. These rumors have pretty much subsided as anyone worth a damn on this forum has fun 13.5 or lower in a completely stock car.
