Is it your right arm. Seems like a long time before you can push a shifter.

Yep it's my right arm. Unfortunately my shootout race day is gone but I'll still be there with my family. I'll be the idiot in the bionic arm looking thing
I can always short shifter the car so I don't have to use my arm just my wrist

My 08 evo x problem

Hi guys and gals new here, so I own a 08 evo x gsr, I’ve been trying to get this figured out and completely stumped, I took it out one weekend to go up a canyon and go fishing with some friends and wasn’t pushing the car whatsoever cause there was a few cars I was behind, anyways about half way up the canyon the car abs lights come on and I lose brakes completely, lucky wasn’t going fast I was enjoying the ride while I was looking for a safe spot to pull off the car shuts off completely but the motor was still running and turn back on again, whole Christmas tree of lights on my dash, once I pulled over I turned the car off and tried to figure out what happened everything looked fine no leaks nothing coming out from under the car nothing, try to go turn the car on to move it to a more convenient spot and it wouldn’t, had to leave the car for about a week, and got it towed down back to my place, still won’t start over ive checked all the fuses and amps going through everything, it all checks out, I’ve gone and replaced the starter replaced all the fuses, even the fusible link block, nothing I have spark fuel pump comes on wired thing is my fans always kick in when turning the ignition on but won’t crank, I’ve gone as far as using the flat head to the starter trick and it just cranks any help and incite would be amazing sorry for the long text but I’m at a loss and need of help

Not to be a dick here but why post this in my thread instead of starting your own? If you're idiot lights come on all at once that mean there's something pretty wrong. I would check and see if you have fuel at the rail. You say your fuel pump comes on but do you have fuel at the real itself, I'd start there if you have fuel and you have sparked the car should start.

Well I have an update. They destroyed my 500 dollar damper getting it off but it's off. Collateral damage and I'm m not mad.. for those who buy these dampers take the powder coating off the inner part of the damper and this won't happen to you.

The 2 broken lugs that were on the car were taken off without being damage to the rims I am happy about that, my suspension is being put back on cause I wanted them to look at it and make sure it was ok and ready for rebalancing.

Injectors are out and being reflowtested and cleaned so they are good for tuning.

I am going to look at possibly having calipers and valve cover repowdercoated.

Timing belt and crank sensors have been replaced. Hks timing belt and new OEM sensor. And that is all the info I have for now. I am waiting on a call here hopefully by the end of the day for more info.

Update: Car is in good shape, waiting on new timing covers a few bolts for rear suspension being i had bad endlinks and they had to cut stuff loose, shop threw me a freebie and is fixing some rust under the rear of the car as well. I had to order new ati damper which sucked but it finally came off. Waiting on a couple timing components as well so timing will be done Tuesday unless something didnt arrive. Other then that tuner is on stand by waiting for his turn to see if car will fire up. more to come.

Thanks for the dedication to this thread... I've been experiencing the same symptoms and I feel your pain. You have given me a few new ideas and have helped my inspiration to get my Evo running again. After rebuilding my head, I was able to get it to fire up. At the same time, I installed my crank bolt wrong and it caused the timing belt and crank pulley to walk. The started wouldn't engage with the flywheel. After troubleshooting non starter issue for 2 months I realized the crank bolt was loose. After tightening the crank bolt the starter would crank the engine, but it still wouldn't start. Confirmed fuel and spark and then figured the crank sensor may have been damaged. Got to the crank pulley removal and it was seized on the crank and had rotated off the crank key. The crank pulley had moved about 1/2" from the engine. I inspected the crank sensor, and didn't notice any damage. Should the sensor and sensor plate have a gap between them? You mentioned putting washers on the sensor and one thing I noticed when I crank the engine is that the sensor is touching the plate when it crosses the tooth.

Hope you get it running!

I haven't seen my car in just over a month. Sensor should have a slight gap between it and the plate. I'm here just arrived at the shootout missing my car already but with busted up arm not much I can do.

So, I confirmed you can check the crank sensor and determine if its working. I was able to confirm I have 0 and 5V at pin 89 of the ECU. Using a voltmeter you can read the crank position signal; rotate the crank until the sensor is over a tooth and it will read 5V. Well, not sure what the position of the sensor plate is, but I've confirmed the signal switches from ~0 to 5V. Looks like I need to confirm compression and timing again...

Yeah crank is fine compression check came back all in theb150s. So no worries there

I forgot to add I have a Callie's forged crank and they basically had to heat the pulley and basically destroyed it

So, I went to check my timing and noticed my exhaust cam was one tooth off. I removed the timing belt to correct the timing and noticed the exhaust cam was loose. I could freely turn it. I opened up my valve cover and notice 3 rockers have come off. Would 1 tooth cause PTV damage? I just rebuilt the head and had it started before the non starter issue.
