I kept saying It has to be a leak but never did check. of course never would have expected this anyway. This thread may have just saved me from buying a new TPS. I also noticed I hit fuel cut really easy at weird amounts of boost sometimes and weird throttle possition so now im thinking this is all related. BTW a tad under 41K on my 03

You know that I never got any CEL's nor did I notice any driveability problems when my seals were bad. All I was experiencing was a slightly rough and unstable idle. So you may have other issues with your car. I would definitely do a boost leak test to rule out leaky seals or any other leaks that you may have.

You know way before the seals were found to be a fixable problem, right before my IAC motor went out, I had a cel that read "tps malfunction" or something along those lines.

This is great info, and I'm planning on doing a leak test shortly.

I'm just wondering if there's any differences in building a leak tester for the IX. Is the turbo inlet the same size? Any differences in TB bearing seals?

I got an 05 EVO with less than 6000 miles and it leaks now! I a can't believe it is bad so fast. I kind of wonder if the leak test blew out my gasket? As no one would really know unless they did the test.

yeah my 05 def sticks when i rev high and then the rpms fall VERY slowly i had no idea what it was it didnt do it very often at all then started getting worse
the car is off the road for winter and im thinkin i might just do an aftermaket intake manifold and throttle body because i dont want to have to tear my throttle body apart every 10k
does anyone know if this happens to aftermarket throttle bodies

ive also noticed a lot of the cars in the reads ive read concerning this have been 05s
thinks theres some sort of relationship with the 05s and much worse seals?

had a sticky throttle in my 92 eclipse a while back and almost died a couple times. Procedure above fixed my issues. Happy boosting!

Wow I hadn't even thought about the throttle hangup... I had that and the cause had perplexed me for quite a while. I just realized that it hasn't done it since I changed those seals...

As the pioneers of the throttle body upgrades for the EVO, WORKS has been aware of this issue for sometime and has a proper solution (correct style, fitment, and pressure rating) coming this summer.
