They could really use a good professional clear coat, so I'm going to look into that when I get back from the holidays

Hey guys, I just wanted to know if OEM Evo 7 tail light inner housing is red from the factory? I can tell the exterior lense is red, hence the How to threads, just would like to know.

ugh ... external paints from Testors?
Sorry, but I think the Evo deserves a bit more TLC ... at least something with a nice UV inhibitor.

Just a heads up, they sell red tail light tint like the black stuff all the honda guys tint their tail lights with. Pop off the lens and coat the inside you'd get amazing results without the need to get it clear coated, ect.

I never thought about painting the inside... but yeah it's VHT Niteshades, they now make a red color. That's what I used. First time I only did 2 coats, wasn't impress, I put 2 more on and got this:

I want to have them cleared professionally because I'm not thrilled with the shine

Wet sand, them then spray a few layers of clear coat. Once it's fully dried wet sand again, polish then wax.

I did that, and when I polished the pad turned red, so I obviously didn't spray enough clear or I sanded through the clear... I'm going to get it done professionally and be done with it

I put 3 coats on and inbetween coats I set the lights in front of my fire place and left them there over nights to bake and they've looked good since. Been done for a couple months. I wanted to take them apart and tint the inside but don't want to ruen my lights. I wanna smoke out the inside of my headlights also but have a hard time putting my lights in the oven since they're so damn expencive to replace if they crack

Thanks for the answer. I always wonder why folks never tint the inner housing red. Is the reverse light tinted as well? if you notice the reverse light on an oem 7 is not deep red as the rest of the housing.
