will the 370z out-perform the Evo X?
Why is there all this bickering? Look, AWD cars will dominate drag racing (with STREET TIRES), thats very obvious. Having done a lot of drag racing, I can tell you for a fact that any RWD car with slicks can and will hang with you off the launch if the driver is decent. The 370z has less weight. Given two cars, and equally sized rubber, the car that is lighter WILL corner faster. Its all physics. Combine this fact with the 370z's higher horsepower, its easy to see which will be the track winner. All the AWD SAYC electronic wizardry, or suspension tricks in the world cannot escape this fact.
Just in case anybody here wants to go on a great 370Z forum to know more about the 370Z ----> http://www.the370z.com/

Great people and tons of info on the 370Z.

But, the X still has more grip according to skidpad tests, and any experienced driver will tell you that an AWD car that doesn't understeer can be driven faster through tight switchback corners where inertia/weight transfer will upset a RWD car. On a fast course, stock for stock the Z will put down a marginally better time. On a tight course, the X will most likely come out on top. It really depends on the course and the driver. I will say this though; the X is going to be more mod friendly and easier to get power out of than the Z, as well as cheaper to get power out of so for race prep/modding, I think the evo is just a better platform.

You forgot two very important aspect of performance in terms of handling: suspension and chassis (weight distribution is also a big factor, but these two cars are pretty similar in that regard so it's a mute point). Handling performance is comprised of a lot more than weight and rubber, because the tires are only as good as the chassis and suspension's ability to create a flat, consistent contact patch on the ground. The chassis is stiffer and more heavily braced on the X than it is on the Z, and the suspension has better geometry and is stiffer, which puts things in favor of the X. Look, from a roll when launch traction on street tires isn't a factor, the Z will most likely walk the X.

But I think Nissan did a great job with the Z, especially despite having to add all the new safety features, etc, still made the Z lighter in a day and age where sports cars are just getting heavier and heavier.
But it's true. Once the modding starts, despite the Z's wonderful new 3.7, the X is going to distance the gap enough to where it won't even be a question.
Stock though, what a great car I think. Can't think of another lightweight (relatively) rwd car on the market that isn't a roadster (s2000) or a rotary (rx8).

don't know if a repost but i do like the not having to use the heel toe move when downshifting , very racer inspired addition to the 370z.

The 370z looks like ***. Nissan took Mitsu's cue in ruining the look of a perfectly good car.
The 2008 acura TL looks like ***. Honda like Nissan followed Mitsu and ruined the look of a beautiful machine.
I love my TL. Its to bad that they couldnt just give it awd and beef up the horse power a little bit.
I think a regular 350z ia sexier than all 3 cars. Oh and I dont see any 350z's runing 13.1 with bolt ons. Hell the turbo ones that run 6psi barely run that.
My opinion of course.

the evo X is much sexier than the evo 8/9
^+1. I know that style, much like art, is very subjective but c'mon... I can't understand how anyone with taste could possibly think that the CT9A body style looks better than the CZ4A. To each his own, I suppose...
I prefer the look of the CT9A to the look of the CZ4A... it's all personal preference. I can completely pick apart the body style of the Evo X/'08 Lancer into all the bits and pieces I don't like.
on the curves, there arent that many cars that can handle the evo's greatness; i dont think a 370z is an exeption.... but again it all comes down to the driver.
