Quote: Mitsu has already released the leather patterns to the autorized Mitsu fabricators, so anyone can get leather now. I was the first in the US

If you want leather, just ask your dealer. Classic Soft Trim does the work, and the leather makes the car 10x nicer!
Any pics of this?

I can live with popping staples and fading fabric so long as the crankshaft is not walking under clutch loading.

True, although crankwalk hasn't been an issue for a long time, since the push type clutch DSMs, one thing that EVOs have never had an issue with. Either way, I've realized that you can fix the staple issue by removing the harness hole covers and pulling the fabric up and angling the staples so that the tension of the fabric pulls the staples INTO the foam rather than OUT OF the foam. I still think that mitsu needs to use a nicer material for the harness hole covers and leather for the seats should really be standard. Next year, we will see if mitsu listens to the list of complaints because I know they are reading this.

How much do you guys think the stock seats can go for? If I replace them with Bride seats I don't want to just throw them away...

OMG Why? Why does the evo seem poorly made from the paint, pedal to the seats!

paint sucks, pedal is a rare thing when you look at how many people have had problems, seats are made by recaro... long as my tranny and engine last

Do you hunt around for all the negative aspects about this car? It just seems like it from this post and the other one I just replied to.

I can pick out some negative points on the two cars you own in your profile. I used to own a '99 Prelude Type SH, '01 S2000, and '04 S2000. I can nitpick just as many negatives on those cars as well as the Evo. However, there's a lot more positive aspects I can focus on when it comes to the Evo.

If you get your jollies on by slamming the Evo, whatever floats your boat. Just go elsewhere and do it. However, don't over exaggerate isolated incidents as being the norm. I haven't broken my pedal...my seats aren't falling apart...and my paint isn't chipping. So far, everything you've mentioned doesn't affect everyone with an Evo.

Given the same circumstance on the Prelude or any other car for that matter...with the design of the wide fenders on the Evo, you would pick up rock chips if certain safe guards are not taken. i.e. aero kit, clear guard covering more of the rear (like on porsche). Look at the STi as another example the paint chips are even worse on those. It doesn't mean the paint sucks. I don't think 10 coats of clear would withstand the everyday abuse.

Personally, there is not car out there that is 'perfect' in every sense. One thing I hated about the s2000 was the glass tranny. But that didn't affect everyone. You get my point?

I just got my x two nights ago and the drivers side seat material has pulled out from the harness slot. I am going to talk to the dealer this week and see if i can get it taken care of under warranty. If not, I will do the staple mod that sti2evox was talking about. I might add some fabric glue under it also.

To all the people hating on the new evo, every car has some kind of problem- no car is perfect. I've had a problem that required me to take all 4 of my new vehicles back to the dealer within 3 months of taking them off the lot (miata, silverado, srt-4, evo x). If you don't have an evo x, then don't give your two cents about how you think the evo is crappy. I don't troll s2000 forums talking about how the car is **** slow or vtec doesn't kick in at correct time in powerband from the factory, or jeep forums talking about their front suspension issues. Find somewhere else to do that bs.

Your funny. how much is mitsu paying you?? people have opinions and if they don't like what they see then let them say what they want in a debatable way. I feel the evo is cheaply made. I continue to look on this fourm to see all the problems so when they stop i will buy one. Not going to pay 35k for a car that simple things that should not be breaking are. Would you? Sorry you already did

mitsu doesnt make the seats, go ask recaro, maybe mitsu decided how much they`re going to spend, so recaro build them the seats.. its like building or renovating a house you decide how much u going to produce/sell for..Dont forget the price of building the tranny & motor to handle the power, plus people going to mod the **** out of this too. Just look @ the suspension, it has more aluminumm parts then subaru impreza sti, & the metal is stronger and stiffer in the evo X. It costs money to build and engineer the car. Also dont for get about the SST tranny made by getrag...

It's not fun wading through through 10 pages of crap to find the single informative post that will increase my knowledge of whatever I'm trying to find out about my vehicle. I realize this happens just about everywhere, but I'm hoping its not going to happen as much here as the last site I used.

Bringing back a thread from the grave! I started this thread like 7 months ago! Anyway, the issue is easily fixed by repositioning the staples, but I agree it's still cheaply made. Hey, evo's have never had nice interiors, and the X is no exception. I personally think the X's interior is very nicely laid out and quite stylish, it's just made with cheap materials and a couple shortcuts were taken.

The pedal breaking issue: not really a big deal unless you are a moron, but there should be a pedal stop to prevent it from happening in the rare case that it does. The seats: lazy shortcut to not sew the fabric over the shoulder area behind the harness covers and use staples. But, these are really small issues and shouldn't prevent someone from buying the car. I personally have never had a car that had so many quirks, from a rough tranny, to a terrible ecu tune, to seats with staples popping out, but in spite of this I love my X more than any other car I've ever owned (and I've owned some badass cars over the years) and wouldn't trade it in for anything.

The chassis, engine, awd system, suspension, brakes, etc are all brilliant and you can clearly see where the money was spent. To me, that's what matters. Although, a nicer interior would be nice, and I wouldn't mind spending a couple grand more for that, if you are listening mitsu.
