RECALL- Manual trans Evo X's
I took mine in last week and they called me trying to charge me $200 to remove my gauges...which would take me 5 minutes to remove the pod and gauges/wires....I said hold off on it and I will do it..when I got there the lead tech said they actually went in and checked everything with the clutch and cmc and everything looked great. I'm at 34k on the odo and no issues...he said that I should just wait until im ready to get a new clutch and go in for the recall at that point since it till not expire
Took mine in on the 4th. Took them a week to do the recall and fix an oil leak. They called and said it was going to be ready in the afternoon on the 12th. Got a call later that day saying that their detail guy damaged my car. Needs a new door skin and rocker panel now. 2 weeks now, i am out of my car. need my boost back.
I wonder if they removed the clutch damper while they were at it?
EDIT: My experience was a mixed bag. At first they told me they were going to take a day and a half to do it (paper says 4 hours) because I was their first one with the recall. They wanted to "document" the process so they can repeat it more efficiently (sounds like bs but ok).
Then they were done in 4 hours. I get the car and they messed up my boost gauge (screwed up the wiring). Gave it back to fix it and they lost my keys. I got everything back now but it went from 1+ day to 4 hours to 4 days to get my car back... Can't say I'm impressed with all that but the work (other then the gauge delay has been good so far).
UPDATE: After driving the car for a few weeks now the clutch feel is more like it was before the recall. Sure I got used to the new feel but it definitely doesn't feel as on/off as it did when I first got it. It's a bit more progressive but still drives good though so no complaints there.

recall was painless for me.
clutch was spongy at first but over the course of a 24hr period it felt natural again.
took the car in with all my mods and my CEL for the 02 sensor front and back....got it back the way it was..just cleaner...seemed like they didnt care about my mods at all.

Just got my 2008 evo x with 21000 miles done at Bell Mitsubishi in Rahway NJ. Highly recommended if you X owners are around there. No horror stories here. In at 8 out by 1230. Would have been sooner but since I was in for the recall I had them change the transfer, transmission, rear axle and power steering fluids. That cost $472. That was recommended in the maintenance manual. Very mod friendly dealership as my car had full bolt ons, tune and coils. No bs here. Clutch difference I mean didn't really feel any during the 40 mile trip back home stop and go traffic at times. Not that there was a problem before I brought it in. Remember to as for Dominik or Nelson when going in for service. Those guys are very professional and courtesy

Just got off the phone about getting refund for the work that was performed (fail CMC back in 2010). They said I will not be getting a refund because my CMC didn't fail in the last year. I asked, "So you're basically admitting to a faulty CMC, but if your CMC did not fail in the last year you will not get a refund?" And she said yes, that's what we are admitting.
She wouldn't transfer me to anybody else nor would she provide a denial of refund in writing. Mitsubishi could care less about it's customers. They are AWFUL!

My response was exactly the same: so you recognize that the CMC is a faulty/ defective part since the MY2008 Evo, mine failed and I paid to replaced it with another defective OEM part and you will not refund my money because the date was before some random made up date? She said yes Sr. I asked could you explain the logic behind this? No, I do not have any other information about this or why you don’t get a refund before that date.
How can they get away with this nonsense? The ones that were going to fail already failed and people took care of them, either OEM or aftermarket. Now they are only going to refund the ones from 12 months since the publication note?
Please let us know if you got a refund, because if you are between the dates, they may find another random excuse to deny the refund…
we should have everyone from the forums call several times everyday to complain until they give up
888-648-7820 I talked to Sophie.
Well I got approved for a reimbursement for my CMC replacement but the rep said I have to take it into a dealership to have it verified first. Unfortunately my car has been in the shop since April for an engine rebuild(don't get me started why it's taking so long) but if and when I get it back, I will bring it to the dealership and see what happens.
It's not a "made up" date; at least, Mitsu didn't make it up. It's part of the federal rules regarding recalls. I mentioned this earlier in the thread.
