RECALL- Manual trans Evo X's
Then they probably messed up the hose that connects the brake booster to the intake. Go back to the dealership (if you're a glutton for punishment) or fix it yourself.
You can start by just looking at it. Maybe it will be obvious. One mistake is installing the hose backwards. This can be very dangerous on a car with forced induction.
ps. I love the "your gauges are to blame"; that's classic CYA nonsense

I was saying that the check-value would be backwards, which would be awful, especially with forced induction.
But I should admit to not having looked at the set-up on an X, so, for all I know, the check-valve isn't in the hose, but is attached at one end.
All I know for sure is that, after working on the brake MC, if the idle is funky and pumping the brakes alters idle, then 9 out of 10 times, the hose between the intake and booster is at fault.

Doubt it. On previous Evos, the check valve is in the hose (13). That (15) would just be a nipple.
But, again, maybe I should not say anything definitive until I read up on my own car.

Turns out, you were correct. The check-valve is in that nipple.

Well, there's a better road test for a bad check-valve, if you don't have a Mighty-Vac. While boosting, press the brakes with your left foot. If the pedal is hard as a rock, then it's definitely a bad or missing valve.
If I use a Mighty-Vac, is the check valve open or close towards the brake booster? I am guessing open to Intake manifold? Thanks.
Look at this as a sign that you were supposed to learn to left-foot brake this winter.
Good guess. Yes, you should be able to suck from that nipple but not blow into it.
And now I will stop typing before I say something that, out of context, could be taken incorrectly and inappropriately.
Oh, wait....

So I brought a might vac. And I suck from the intake manifold side and it's holding vacuum does that mean the valve is stuck? I assume when I suck from it it should not hold any vacuum right?
Just got mine done this morning at bell mitsubishi in nj. I called yesterday just to make sure that they knew about it and if my car was included in the recall. They confirmed that it was and said come in asap and we will take care of you. So I got there as soon as they opened (8:00) hoping to be the first car and I was! The service writer wrote me up and took the car in right way telling me it would be about 3hrs or so. Being that I live a hefty toll away I told him no problem take ur time just get it right ill be waiting. A hour later I heard my car pull out and it was done! To my surprise the service writer (Nelson) began to tell me I was going a good route with the mods and brands I chose and that I should get a cobb ap and get some more hp safely and that way i could just flash it back to stock if i needed to get warrenty work done. Upon further talking I gathered that Bell is accually a pretty mod friendly dealer. Anyways , the clutch def feels better and Im happy with the experience and would def recommend anyone in the area to them for the recall.
thanks for the input. Will be seeing Nelson soon.......

Finally done going through entire thread. Is all the funny idling present after the CMC recall is done and you have aftermarket exhaust, intake, BOV etc? Stock cars no need to input. Only bolt ons with tune. I've read they reflash your computer back to stock? Is this true? I own a 08 X since day one and have had funny idling in stock form(first 4 years bout hand full of times at stop signs and lights) . After mods and tune have not seen since. Why would they do that? Also will disconnecting the battery affect your present tune? Why would they even reflash your ECU if they know you have mods.? wouldn't that be like f#$king up your set up on purpose? does not make sense. Planning on taking mines to Bell Mitsu in NJ. Hear they are a mod friendly Mitsubishi dealership.
Would like more info on dealers reflashing ECU when u have MODS with bolt ons and tune for the hell of it when going in for CMC recall.....

More feed back on Bell Mitsubitshi in NJ........Thanks EvoMembers
