And that's an excellent question, but the way. We know that the CMC from an 8/9 can handle an upgraded clutch, but, as of now, we don't know if the redesigned CMC for an X can take it. Given the low engagement issue with the new version, this might make having the recall done rather unattractive to many.
Well, I have an am clutch and the EVO is with the dealership now getting the recall done. We'll see what happens, hopefully I'm not at a stop light and have the CMC bust on me when the light turns green.

FYI, they called me asking for the lug lock. Mine actually broke so don't know what or why they'd need to take the wheels off. Maybe to bleed the brake lines??

Correct. Because the brakes and clutch share a reservoir, the brakes must be bled.

Does anyone know if this affects 2014 models as well? Not listed in the recall but is it same part number as 2013 model?

I think somebody posted that it does not affect the 2014. It comes with the upgraded part. If I'm incorrect I'm sure somebody will correct me.

I'm going in tomorrow. Hopefully I don't have to sit there all day. Going to see if I can test drive a 8 or 9 since I never drove one. Help pass the time a little.

I have a Shep Trans rebuild, with after market clutch and pressure plate... the mechanic was concerned "it hard to shift"

Did it for me. no issues, except the annoying little squeak on full clutch, and they disconnected my gauges..

had mine done yesterday at Bell Mitsu. I was the first car in the morning. took them 2 hours. the clutch was soft with a lower engagement when I drove it off the dealer lot, but gradually went back to near what it was after driving in traffic.

also saw 3 other Xs in the service parking lot when I left. almost had all the colors represented. white, red, black, and gray

I had the CMC recall along with some headlamp recall done at Prestige Mitsubishi. Both took the better part of 5 hours, but the clutch and brake pedals feel solid.

What annoyed me was on the work order, it stated the following:

-Exhaust system has been modified
-Car has been lowered
-Intake system has been modified

I had the CMC recall yesterday. I know many ppl already mentioned that the clutch feels a lot softer and engagement point is significantly lowered. My car felt the same yesterday.
Today I drove my car and engagement is still almost right off the floor. I don't mind having a lower engagement point but will this get back to normal as I put more miles on it? I read few ppl said their clutch went back to normal after driving a few miles. But considering that I drove almost 50miles after the new CMC install and it's still the same, should I take my car back to the dealership? Why does this happen? does this mean that the work wasn't performed properly?

I can only assume that your ECU hasn't been flashed or that would have been mentioned, too.

Decided not to get the recall done, I'll take my chances on the old version and buy the new cmc and a power bleeder and change it myself if I ever need to.
Swore off having any dealer or shop wrench on my cars a long time ago after watching things always being done wrong or damaged time and time again. Hearing so many people say the engagement point is low and changing randomly after putting on some miles just reinforces my decision.
