With regard to having already done the work and asking for repayment, as I explained earlier (see post 75 on page 5), it depends on when you did the work.
In the recall letter it states:

"If you have already encountered a problem with the CMC and had it replaced as a result of this specific condition and have paid for the repair, you may send your original receipts and/or adequate proof of payment to the following address for reimbursement consideration: Mitsubishi Customer Relations Department, P.O. Box 6400, Cypress, CA 90630-0064"

That's more than Mitsu is legally obligated to do. Wow. I'm somewhat flabbergasted.

I understand they would still do the recall but they wouldn't remove the aftermarket clutch would they?

I'm assuming that portion of the letter is under the pretense that owners are on the stock clutch. If you had an aftermarket part cause a CMC failure then one could assume that it was because of a result of said aftermarket modification - they may apprehensive to reimburse you due to this.

Then again, since the CMC replacement does not require opening the transmission they may have not know you had an aftermarket clutch installed at all. I'd really like to know how that would shake out as there are probably many owners in this situation.

Hey guys,
I just had my CMC replaced yesterday. I have stock clutch and I noticed that after the install that the pedal is much softer. There is also a little bit more dead pedal when you push initially. Lastly, the catch point seems to be when the pedal is 75% pushed instead of around 50% like before the install.

I included a video showed how much dead pedal there is now

I know many people have experienced the same thing after the CMC install but I am wondering if it would be worth having the system re-bled?

No. They won't touch the clutch, itself.

Mine did the same thing last week after I picked it up from the dealership. I was hesisting to leave since like you said it takes 75% before you feel the friction. But then I decided to go anyway since its late. Drove for about 1/2 a mile with stop and go (downtown) and after I stopped at the stop light everything went back to normal.

Is this something for new EVO's as well? Just picked up a 2014 GSR, is this required for it as well?

2014 has the upgraded CMC from the factory. No need for recall.

Just to reiterate what most have said,

Picked up mine yesterday and the clutch felt feather-light leaving the parking lot.
half mile down the road and it went back to normal. I was surprised the service tech didn't take it for a test ride after the work was done. Just parked it out front and on to the next job.

Yeah I went in to have my CMC replaced and they opened up my transmission and saw the aftermarket clutch. Said they wouldn't replace under warranty because of it. So I'm wondering if I will even get any money back for the previous CMC replacement.

No, they did not take out my transmission. They opened up something while the car was on the lift. You could barely see the clutch (yellow) and said that's aftermarket. It was back in 2010 after I had the car for a couple months (bought used from a dealership). Didn't know aftermarket clutch was installed.

There's either more to this story or you may have just located the most moronic dealership in the country.

In any event, this is a recall, not a warranty repair. If the things that you have done to the car do not DIRECTLY interfere with the recall work, they must do it.
