RECALL- Manual trans Evo X's
No, they did not take out my transmission. They opened up something while the car was on the lift. You could barely see the clutch (yellow) and said that's aftermarket. It was back in 2010 after I had the car for a couple months (bought used from a dealership). Didn't know aftermarket clutch was installed.
I'm not talking about the recall. I'm talking back in 2010 when the CMC busted. Wasn't covered under warranty because of the after market clutch. All I'm trying to figure out is if I'll get my money back from the replacement CMC back in 2010.
I was continuing on from a previous post. I haven't even talked to the dealership about the recall yet.

Hmm, I noticed very little change
I just had the CMC done today at my nearby Mitsubishi dealer (Capitol Mistubishi, San Jose). I took it in early in the morning (8am) and got it back at 3pm. Apparently, they've been doing this for the past few weeks. They're garage had another Evo X already being worked on when I drove in. The service manager said they had already done about 20 or so cars since the recall a few weeks ago. Despite the few mods I have on my car, getting the CMC replaced wasn't a problem - as it's a safety issue and would be done regardless. My only gripe is that they didn't have loaner cars for me to use - I had to rent one out-of-pocket myself from a rental car company across the street
.
When I got the Evo back the service manager said everything went well
. I drove it in stop and go traffic for 20mins, then another 20mins at freeway speeds, and finally in my residential neighborhood for 10mins. In the end, I noticed very little change in the engagement or the weight of the clutch pedal. If I was to nitpick, it did feel a bit lighter, but the engagement point felt the same - not lower, or higher, just the same. And despite being lighter, driving in traffic still sucked - can't fix that I guess

They are not obligated to give a refund and probably won't. But if you had the CMC replaced with another OE part in 2010, then you still have one that is subject to the recall.
Got my CMC finished on Friday and got a new ACT clutch that went in yesterday. I will post up on how the new CMC will hold up and give updates on it as well.

Hey guys,
I just had my CMC replaced yesterday. I have stock clutch and I noticed that after the install that the pedal is much softer. There is also a little bit more dead pedal when you push initially. Lastly, the catch point seems to be when the pedal is 75% pushed instead of around 50% like before the install.
I included a video showed how much dead pedal there is now

I know many people have experienced the same thing after the CMC install but I am wondering if it would be worth having the system re-bled?

Unless you are currently having issues with the master cylinder, this recall repair will not change any drivability conditions with the car. The material that the master is made from is strengthened.
not sure if this is related to the recall sevice but since i had the replacement serice done my brakes have been screaming louder than ever and constantly at a certain engaugment point. can this even be related to the cmc service ?
I'm confused.
All of those who HAVE gotten the recall done MUST have had the stock clutch correct? As well as stock cmc.
Is it true that Once you go magnus kit, you can't go back?
So is there anyone out there who has the Upgraded new mitsu cmc with an after market clutch?
I called the number provided in the letter inquiring about a refund. I was told they will only reimburse you if you replaced with OEM.
I said I encountered problems with the cmc and I had the problem fixed blah and the man said regardless, we're not obliged to reimburse for any work not performed at an authorized dealer.
I still have the oem cmc and clutch. I purchased the magnus cmc THEN git the letter. I need a new ckutch soon. I am wondering if I should just go with the re call or put the magnus in. All depends really on whether or not this new one can take after market clutches.
Oh yeah, the man said there's a 1year 10k mi warranty on the new cmc. Hmmm

First, I assume that you called MMNA at 888-648-7820, since that's the number on the recall notice. Correct?
And they said that they are not obligated to reimburse you for replacing the CMC. Correct?
OK, did they ask you when you replaced your CMC?
Yes, that number. MMNA.
I forgot the man's name, dammit. Correct. I told it had failed, I replaced it. Will you reimburse me if I replaced it with an aftermarket device.
He said no, if it was not repaved with the oem part andor nor performed at amitsu deaker, they won't reimburse. Which is sort of scary. What if I had the oem intalled at my mechanic of choice?
He did not ask specifics on when where I had the work done.

I used the magnus kit with the oem cmc and had it installed probably 2 weeks before the recall notice was released so you say they told you the only way to reimbursed would be if the work was done at a dealer and the old plastic cmc was used?

First off, it's been federal law for quite a while that warrantors cannot require OE parts; they can only require OE or equivalent. And it does not matter who did the work.
Second, if you made a repair that becomes the subject of a recall within 12 months after the repair, they must reimburse you. Mitsu has already told a few other people that they'll reimburse further back, as long as you have receipts.
