RECALL- Manual trans Evo X's
a good mechanic with a shop and tools should have this done in a hour and a half. Which is about what it took him. I exaggerated a tad when i said i was in and out in a hour, it was more like a hour and a half haha
Update: Just got mine back about 30mins ago. The clutch feels a lot softer almost, not quite so stiff not sure if they didn't bleed the clutch all the way. Seems to shift smoother not quite so hard to get in and out of gear imagine that haha. Does anyone else who has had this done have a softer clutch??? Looks like they also flashed my ECU < but i asked for it since i said the idle was not stable and there is a service bulletin about it.
Well I dropped mine off tonight. Hate leaving it overnight at the dealers....maybe just ocd. They have one tech who works on evos and was told it will be 3-4 hours....pick up tomorrow
For the person who has a Salvage Vehicle: Yes, they HAVE to do the recall work no matter what. As long as the VIN is the correct number, the vehicle current or previous condition does not matter one bit.
Also modded cars: STOP BEING PARANOID! They take pictures only of the calipers to note the condition. They only do this for the purpose of backing up their *** if they messed up and got brake fluid on them. They CANNOT and will be HEAVILY penalize if they instigate voided warranty from a recall issue.
Another good note: People need to trust techs more. There are so many good ones loosing their opportunity. None of you guys new how to change anything except the universal crap, doesn't mean you ****ed up your ****. Techs do this for a living, just because they haven't done a CMC install doesn't mean your car will blow up the next day. Give them more credit. If they ****ed up, they have to return you whole again as this is a recall work and not warranty, it's a different ball game, and fortunately, one Mitsubishi can't play in.
I got mine installed. Took about 4:30 hours. Techs 2nd install. I don't know if I feel a difference. It kind of seems smoother (as it catching better), and a bit lower engage point. Don't know if this has to do with fluid change and bleed. I brought it in with 9,800 on the odometer.

I just got off the phone with the servicing center at South Coast Mitsubish in Costa Mesa. They told me it's around a 4 hour job and they've done nearly 50 CMC replacements and most of them have been from going ahead and upgrading the unsold Evos in their inventory. If you're in southern California, they're the dealer to go to in my opinion as it seems like they're on it.
That where I'm going next Friday the 22nd.
