If they leave the US market though, where would you take your car to get the work done at? I'm assuming there will be no dealerships selling the Mitsu product. Those dealers would still be able to service the Mitsu product even though they no longer sell them?

Correct, the manufacturer will have to set up authorized repair facilities whether it be their previous dealerships or otherwise. I'll be honest though, I am not concerned about Mitsu pulling out of the US. At this point, all things are pointing towards the positive for them.

Well, only time will tell. I was just curious though because I am thinking of holding out for awhile on the recall. I'm thinking of waiting until my car is close to being out of warranty. Mostly because I think the dealers will recognize my car for being modded. The dealer may or may not take this recall as an opportunity to take note of modded Evos.

Just called my local dealer and they should be getting a shipment of the new CMC units next week. I spoke to them and so far I will be the first one to get it done at their location and when I asked them if they have ever installed a CMC before, they said they have never done this install not even for someone under warranty before this re-call was issued. I'm kind of worried of being the first one ever they try this on, the service manager basically told me the instructions that they received is like 28 pages long and they are going to take their time (all day install) to make sure they follow every step carefully and get it done right. The weird thing is that scares me even more, I would prefer to hear "No worries we have done this countless amount of times and we'll toss that bad boy in there for you in a couple hours" lol

Do you guys think I should not worry and just go for it?

Dealers are starting to get them. The particular one I work for has a few.

Good news, people who have replaced theirs already may be eligible for reimbursement!
Bad news, the new one is still plastic.

You should be fine. It'll take a little extra time but it's not mega complex.

It's going to be an all day install because they need to go over the Evo's and make note of all aftermarket parts

I found out about it yesterday when I was on the phone to customer service dealing with AWS issues where I was told I am not covered under warranty. I have already upgraded to the Magnus CMC... I will opt for the cash option!

I'm really confused why they didn't just use the 8/9 CMCs

All they had to do was strengthen the current part. The plastic is cheaper to produce and lighter in weight, I'm also willing to bet the piston seals will last longer in the plastic housing. Metal master cylinders are by no means fail-proof (ask any DSMer). Mitsu went through a learning curve with the plastic, and luckily they corrected the problem just like they did with the diff pins.

I had the recall performed last Friday and it took the dealer less than 2 hours from drop off to the phone call to pick the car up. At first felt it little different than the stock CMC but now I can't even tell a difference.

With the work you get a complete fluid flush of the CMC (obviously) and brake system (since its all linked).

I tend to feel like you at times but in reality, a person that is mechanically inclined, as I'm sure the people working at the dealer are, can do things they have never done before. They have the skill to figure it out. I just got my new BC coils installed at a little tire shop. They have always done such a great job with my tires, very fast and do good work, that I asked them if they could do coils. The price was too good to pass up. I was a little worried but turned out they did a great job.

I was worried about the part being plastic but there really is no reason a plastic part can't be extremely strong if built correctly.

I just had my CMC replaced yesterday under the recall. I was the first the dealer had done and it took about 6 hours from when I dropped it off to when they called.

The clutch engagement feels about the same but it almost feels smoother/lighter. That could be from a fluid change also.

So after 1 day...no problems! I can also confirm they were instructed to take pictures of the calipers...and probably all the aftermarket parts I had on the car.
