Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Note you can turn active braking OFF. It's like ESP on European cars, great in snow/rain, intrusive on dry pavement. I hope it that unlike european cars, it doesn't automatically turn ON when turning the ignition key. On my Audi S4 the ESP was terrible on (cuts power) but with it off it had an open front/rear diff, also not a great situation. The Mitsubishi version should be better but I suspect most of the performance enthusiasts will still choose to turn it off.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! !!!!!!!!
This lack of info is killin' me. I want to buy the X, but when?
Somone knows. Let's here what the future is and when, now, pleeeeeasse!

Be prepared to wait....
It will definitly be LATER rather than sooner. No way it is making it year in a year and half. I would agree with some of the others that is will be a very late 07 release, maybe even as an '08 model. So I would expect about another 2 years.
If you're even thinking about buying an Evo, you might as well get one now. Why wait another two years when you could be having fun NOW!!!
You can always worry about it when the time comes.

ETC (electronic throttle control) is used on high end sports cars and is used in racing (F1, WRC).
It really depends on the strategy and how they calibrate the pedal shaping function. If done right, ETC should allow the driver to easier modulate the power delivery.
I was kind of dissapointed that the EVO IX didn't have ETC, unlike the STI which had it since 2004.

I'm probably your severest critic here. I will hand it to you, though: you are the resident expert on the X - sincerely. I know who to ask if I ever have a question about it, as I know you're keeping a watchful eye out for any and all news.
a little birdy told me that that 1000 number may be getting bumped up as more people are buying MR's than the other models. So the RS and GSR may become the "rare" finds... again, I dont know how true this is either so take it for what its worth.

I wish I could... money is about as tight for me right now as it is for MMNA...
I'm saving for the down payment. Sometime in '07 will be great for me. I've had a lot of sport bikes and a few "sporty" cars (Trans-Am & a Miata), but an EVO would be my first REAL sports car... I can't wait!!
Most the info I have seen say the X is a 2007 model. It's normal for model years to be released in th middle if the previous year so I'm going wwith 2006.5

I don't get it... Mitsu goes with Mivec JUST to change the engine 1.5yrs later - makes no sense, this stuff isn't software!
Then to say the X is an experiment and it will change 1 yr later.
Mitsu is losing market share. Their focus is on entry level vehicles, we are a select few appreciating their motorsports efforts.
It makes no sense for Mitsu to increase deltas in such a short timeframe. Furthermore, Mitsu tends to build an engine well and keep it for a long time.
A company in survival mode can't possibly put all the R&D into a niche car, the board would never agree to it. Mitsu has screwed up many of their decisions, I have a hard time believing they will cater to us the way some of you are speculating.
I don't mean to be a dream crusher, just a realist. Japan will be producing some serious cars in the 60-80k price range over the next few years, those companies have increasing market share and have incredible reputations on their side (Nissan, Honda, Toyota). Mitsubishi is that company that lied about TSBs for 13 years... Mitsu is that company that company that keeps pushing that new pickup and appears to have shifted focus... Mitsu is that company that doesn't appear too favorable to those of us that modify our cars in some way then bring our cars in for warranty repairs for a completely unrelated reason and are forced to engage in war.
I plan on keeping my 8 for a while, I think it's a phenominal car. My wish is that I am wrong and Mitsu aires on the side of impraticality. I can't imagine the Goldman Sachs Holdings company with some interests give a cat's claw about us and our interests.
Let the games of the best AWD turbo import (at a reasonable cost) begin!
