Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
In case your wondering about the gentlemen's agreement in Japan, it's already been broken many times in the USA with cars such as the 320HP Supra, 320HP VR4, 300HP 300ZX, 300HP 350Z, and the 300HP SC430 and GS430. The agreement may even be broken in japan with the realease of the new Skyline GT-R, the new Acura Supercar, the Toyota Supercar, and the Lexus LS500.
There's a thread somewhere about the new X with a magazine scan where it was reported that the X will have 320BHP in base form with the possibility of higher power models being offered.
Personally I'm not really concerned about BHP, that's easy to get. I'm hoping they put the X on a serious diet. Weight loss is much harder to acheive, and it improves every aspect of the car. If they can get the weight bias to 55f/45r, that would be a bonus also.

Its not going to look at that.. thats an IS300 front end that has been photoshopped onto an evo style body. I love this concept.. and im sure the car is gonna looks awesome, but no way is it.
The C Pillar looks like it's from an Old style VW Jetta, the foglights are those from the Lexus IS, the Side skirts I have seen those somewhere before but can't place where.
and what is with the Hood vent being so far back on the hood.
but other that that, looks alright.

Some one has way too much time on their hands. The only reason people who photochop exist is because they don't have a car to modify. I can think of better things to do with my time than take pics of IS300's, Skyline's, and Evo's and throw them together. The X will look nothing like this.
IDK where that red picture came from, but from what I've read the sportsback is a thinly disguised next generation Lancer. So expect the Evo X to be a more aggressive version of the silver sportsback car. Also the new platform will mean it's a larger car than the present Lancer. No word on weight, but it is supposed to have Aluminum panels so it might even weigh less than the current model.
IMO that red car while looking aggressive, nonetheless looks out-dated, that look went out in the 90's... This is the 21st century; I think the silver car is closer to where the Evo must evolve to.

Thinking-Evo X, Might come up short
I hope hope this in not the case but, I'm Thinking the new EVO X might be coming up short.

"Evolution X
EVO X. It's a cool name, like Speed Racer's mysterious older brother. But believe it or not, Mitsubishi execs are considering starting over again with the next-gen Evo because they insist the car will be a significant departure from the I-IX series we've come to know and love. So you could be looking at Evo 1, take two. Uhhh, someone needs to tell these guys what they're messing with.
Evo X--that's what it'll always be to us--won't appear until 2007. But here's what we know. Renderings making the rounds on various Evo Web sites are close to the actual digital prototype body we've seen with our own eyes (along with a bad-to-the-bone Evo IX wagon concept). The main differences are the absence of hood louvers and the side glass tumblehome is more vertical on the working model. The gaping fish-mouth grille bisected by a thin bumper (as on the Audi A6 or VW Jetta) is real, but still a topic of debate.
Overall, the car looks Italian. Think Alfa Romeo 156 (especially from the rear), but with the wheels pushed farther to the corners and a more menacing, decidedly Japanese anime face with narrow headlamps. Speaking of wheels, the tread width will increase by about 2.5 inches (that's a bunch), wheelbase by about the same, yet the overall length of the car will shrink by some 3.5 inches. We also know Mitsu is considering, at least as an option, its own version of Audi/VW's double-clutch DSG paddle-shift transmission."
I'm getting the feeling that the best EVO's might be in the past ??
Time will tell, In a few weeks we will see some thing like the real deal Evo X in Gremany...
