Concept X at Chicago Auto Show

The Concept X will be at the Chicago Auto show according to the Chicago AS website.

No idea if there will be any new info but those of you in the Chicagoland area can have an in person look see and pump the reps for details.

Another big shortfall with these types of transmissions is the automatic down and up-shifts that are typically jerky because of high or low revs, and are typically poorly timed. The only way I'd ever consider one is if it lets you totally over and under-rev by pushing some sort of button. I really hope the new motor will be as bulletproof, it's the one thing that could wreck it for enthusiasts.
Excuse me but have you actually driven a car with DSG? I too was on the other side and loved rowing the gears of my E46 M3. Now I drive an 06 A3 with the DSG tranny and it kicks ***. Believe me, the Audi forums are chock full of debates on which is better between pure manual vs. DSG. That will be a never-ending debate and is actually a well beaten horse now.

The reason I ask you the question about any experience with DSG is because I don't think you have any if you think it's rough shifting. We're not talking about the SMG tranny in the M3, not even close.

I did find it interesting that The X will be shown in Chicago but wasn't in Detroit. More focus on the Eclips spyder and the concept they had I suppose. I'd love to see the inside on the sportback, perhaps at the Geneva show.

The Chicago Autoshow website is well done, you can see every car they expect to be there, most others don't. The Washington show is this week and Mitsu will be there but no word on what they are showing. Same with the Baltimore, Philly and other shows.

Make sure to take some good pics you guys from Chicago!

I'm glad to see is working on the X. Love the look of Concept-X. Don't how the X drivetrain will turn out, but based on 's track record with the Evo to date, I'm hopeful and willing to wait and see before I pass judgement.

As for manual vs. clutch-pedal-less... I want whichever makes me faster. Hell, I'll wear a tutu and lipstick if it'll make me faster. Shifting is "fun", but it's fun that I'll gladly give up when something better comes along.

My comment regarding the shifts was more directed towards the paddle shifters it's true. I have driven the DSG, I'm a big VW/Audi fan, but it only had to annoyingly downshift on me once in order for me to dismiss it as not acceptable. My major point however was that it's MECHANICALLY less efficient, not that it's not fun to drive.
