You don't really think Lexus was the first to implement the direct injection do you? The Fuel Stratefied Injection (FSI) has been around for a while now. Take a look at the perennial winner of the LeMans 24 hour race...Audi R8 using FSI technology
No, but I do believe the one used in Evo X is closer to the system in the Lexus.

Yeah, the eclipse has AWD and 400 hp. I had a thread up on it with an article attached but the mods deleted it.

I seriously doubt it otherwise someone would have mentioned it by now. Hell I'd consider flying up there just to see it if that were the case. As it stands, Chicago is a bit too far for me and I've got work-related matters to deal with during that time.

Man I'm eager to see the X at a show soon.

I see. In any case, I'm psyched about the possibilities of this car. If it's implementing DualTronic (aka DSG) I'll be all over it!! It will virtually be unbeatable short of a super car like a Carrera GT.

As for manual trannies, wouldn't it likely implement a 6-speed as opposed to 5-speed?

A couple of people I know are going to the DC show and I asked them to check out the Mitsu booth and snap some picks if either the X or Sportback is there.

I was surprised that they didn't have either at NAIAS.

They had the Ralliart Raider

No Concept X, no GT-R, no FXX, i was a little disappointed in NAIAS this year. Don't get me wrong there were some nice cars, but just not the biggies I wanted to see.

Are you saying you dismissed an entire technology based on one manufacturer's implementation in one vehicle? If so, that's pretty narrow-minded and short-sighted.

If you've read BW and the other discussions about these systems, a major point highlighted often is the tunability of a LARGE range of characteristics.

Based on a quote relating fuel economy to a automatic transmission, you have determined the mechanical effeciency of a transmission as it relates to a manual transmission. Maybe you aren't showing all your math. Without knowing the exact mechanical effeciency of a manual transmission and how it relates to the quoted automatic transmission, one can't make the assumption of the effeciency of a DSG/DT transmission as related to a manual.

A > B
B > C
Therefore, A > C

Without knowing the B to C relationship, one can't deduce the A to C relationship.

As an example, if the manual transmission is 10% more effecient than an automatic than the effeciency difference is negligble. (Note: I am not saying that is really the % of anything.)

Therefore, you haven't _actually_ proven they are less effecient than a manual transmission.

The larger point everyone seems to have missed so far in the discussion of the Evo X transmission is that none of us actually know anything about it and how the car will be to drive.

Just my 2 pennies...YMMV

Don't you think that they'd be advertising that info if it was more efficient than a manual? They don't because the wet clutch can't be more efficient since it always has some slip because there is fluid between the multiple plates. The real non-fun with DSG is going to come around a few years from now when they fail. Any idea how much a replacement mechanism costs? You really think it's going to be comparable to a clutch?
