Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
The Post
From what I have read I do get it, now we all get our info from different places, so believe what you want to believe, but what I HAVE read is that its a CHRYSLER platform NOT a Mitsubishi Designed platform. So MItsubishi is bumming it from Chrysler not the other way around. So is it Potato or Potatoe haha...Either way, it will be interesting to see. The IX is and end of an Era, kind of like the E36 platform for BMW. Things get so good, that there is no where else to go but........well, we will see........
Personally, I think they can improve. The larger track and wider tires disturbs me a bit (tossability) but if they get the chassis ratio right (length:width), it'll be an amazing car. I think the stock Evo is a bit flexy, especially in the rear. I don't have a strut tower bar in the rear (05 GSR) and I can feel/hear the flex.
Think there's any chance the engine is longitudinal? Probably not...maybe with the turbo on the rear there'd be room for a V-mount style IC/radiator setup. More crash worthy and not as prone to rocks. Might limit us on just how big we could go turbo-wise.

should we even call this model an evo ?
which should carry on the design language first spoken by the Concept-X, will share its platform with the Dodge Caliber, Mitsu Outlander and next PT Cruiser. We’re guessing that’s about all it will share with those vehicles, too.

I mean cmon... the platform will be shared, but im sure that doesnt mean a bad thing... I really dont think mitsu can afford to take a step backwards with this new car. If u check out the current evo platform versus a stock lancer... umm well it started the same but it ends up an entirely different animal with all the extra spot welds and structural integrity that as to be added to make the car perform like it does... hell i dont care if my evo sits on a 1980's ford fiesta chassis as long as it drives and performs like an evo should
the future: dodge will have a srt-evo version based off the shared platform

's) small car knowledge. FWIW I suppose.

Turning the engine around (again) and putting the intake manifold up front would be inline with what Honda has done (and Chrysler). I think this will probably reduce the path of power to the ground as Mitsubishi (and older Hondas) have engines that spin opposite to what is the norm.
