Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Newer is not always better. We'll have to wait and see if the Evo X is truly better. It may just be more refined, comfortable and heavy as they always get with each newer model.
You guys need to see the Evo9 vs Evo6 comparison from Fifth Gear. The Evo 6 rips apart the Evo 9.

to the people that think its just a evo IX its just a test mule, the reason the front looks kind of weird im guessing is because they needed to mod the engine bay to put in the new engine, and awd
my predictions
1. it will not share a platform with any dodge vehicle.
2. it will come standard with a 6-spd tranny.
3. if they do offer the 6-spd flappy, that will be an option for the MR.
4. it will rule, completely and totally, f-ing a.

To all those worried about
sharing platforms with DCX (Caliber/PT), understand the following.
designed the platform as the engineering lead. Essentially, it is their platform and DCX was permitted to use it for their models (due to the now dissolved equity ownership).
Further, a "platform" simply designates specific "hard points", such as the position of the A-pillar, door handle mechanism, power window motors, etc.
As such,
obviously designed the needs of an EVO into the platform and did the appropriate R&D. Finally, just as with current EVO's,
is likely going to do additional welding and other work (weight reduction...???) to stiffen the chassis and improve the vehicle overall.

Second, why does everyone just assume the only tranny option will be a manumatic?!
I believe Audi rates the manual A3 faster 0-60 than the DSG box by about .2 seconds. While I'd like a DSG-type system on an Evo, I'm wondering what it would take to upgrade one of those puppies to handle higher hp levels. Might be a real nightmare for us and the smartest thing Mitsu ever did!

Just my 2 cents...
I would hope they still offer a 5/6 speed manual in the X. Why? Because I think driving a manual transmission car is fun. To me, when I think of myself driving around Gingerman or Grattan in a paddle shift car, it just seems like it would take part of the fun out of it. I like testing myself to see how well I can rev-match and shift as I'm diving into a corner.
Because of this, and other things I've heard about the SMG transmissions that are out now, I would opt for a true manual on the X.
However, for me this is all moot as I plan on getting an IX before the X comes out since I'm pretty sure the X is gonna be a bit more pricey and probably beyond my budget. But that's a whole other thread.

If the clutch system can only hold a finite amount of torque and there are no aftermarket upgrades, that would leave RalliArt, possibly, to provide the upgrades. And they may see it as a means to control modifications even further and thus stop the warranty loss bleeding.
