My thoughts on clutchless is that BMW does not have it right even with SMG III in the M5. Owners are complaining about the jerkiness which was supposed to be improved upon on SMG II in the M3.

Now Audi's DSG sees to work great but its not as fast as the SMG if your counting time nor is it well suited for a performance car unless your sporting 1,000hp in the Veyron of course.

I dont see any reason for them to offer it outside of appealing to a wider audience = more sales. Nothings wrong with that...at least until you try to launch your Evo with it

personally i like the look of this car with the slightly modified body more than the concept X. I want to do this to my IX when i get it. That would be awesome in my opinion.

i ment that they do it by mistake. So tell me, how hard is it to click a paddle twice to downshift from 5th to 3rd, sounds like a big deal, I guess F1 has been doing it wrong all along...

I hear there will be an automanual all-the-gizmos version and a regular cheaper manual version, hope so

Great, now there will basically be an Evo minivan (Dodge Caliber concept)!!
What will the rest of the world get? I'm guessing this will be the US exclusive setup...

I've driven an M3 with the SMG and it's not as good a track car as the MT M3. Just because it shifts faster does not make it better, throttle modulation with a clutch is much better and easier when try to get around the track the fastest. This changes a little when you start talking mega horsepower supercars. I also don't get your point with the Carrera GT, Topgear loved it and it outperforms any other Porsche ever made by a wide margin, I don't think you say "it's mind blowingly good" about a car that's lacking....

the bumpers look the same, but the hood and fenders look different. Clutchless, what a waste...

If it's a clutchless manumatic trans it will probably be more consistent at the strip than the traditional manual cars.

I don't really care about drag racing but, alot of people on here do.

Didn't catch that article, would have been interesting, but keep in mind we're talking a whole different ballgame with a RUF. I'm just stating that I have driven cars with very fast sequential gearboxes and they're not as good on the track IMO. I'll just be disappointed if there is no manual version of the X, but I doubt that'll be the case.
