An all-aluminum motor is certainly better with respect to handling characteristics (better weight distribution). However, in my experience, cylinder wall distortion and overall strength are the most common downfalls with high hp aluminum blocks. I used block filler to help my application years ago.

Handling is exactly what Mitsubishi is going for here, not that the Evo needs it, but I do think it will help the push in the corners when you too hot on the brakes. As for the cylider walls, one of the things I was wondering is, are we going back to the days of posting, or sleeving the blocks, which I dread. Most of the problems arise when you have to pull the motor just so you can have the machinist screw up the job, and then drop a sleeve. Talk about frustration. I will say that the block gaurd could be effective in this situation.

A thought: At what point, hp wise, does one see cylinder wall distortion on this block? If they have payed attention to detail, and if they have added reinforcements to the cylinderwalls we may be OK.

If there are any pictures of the "World Engine " blocks around that could help to identify some problems and remedies, that would help new X owners in their plight for massive power.

It is the most beautiful thing on the planet (minus the interior). With that said, it doesn't have the rally car feel, it looks like a mix between Rx-8 and RSX.... It looks like a track car... hopefully they kept it's rally roots somewhere inside.

I don't want an evo that goes faster than 150mph... That's not really the point of it.
But I do want an evo that'll own a Atom on the skidpad.... Cause that'll be sickass.

Regaurdless, since it's apparently comming to Canada, I'm buying it regaurdless. I have waited too god damn long.

I like the interior, specifically the rear racing seats. But I will concede that it would be nice to see a bit more padding on them.

The should be able to keep the rear buckets with some modification. I don’t believe a racing harness in the rear would meet applicable U.S, laws however. So probably something like the RX-8 back seats with it’s full length console would be close.

I hope they don't do that in the real car. I need the space of a full bench. I have 2 kids, 2 car seats I need to put in there + some extra kid junk. The limited 2 person seating and the useless space taking rear console would kill it for me.

Well 2 car seats would fit, I've seen two in the RX8 which is probably smaller inside than an Evo. Not sure on misc stuff but there is always the trunk. I have to fit two car seats as well, at least the kids will have 5 point harnesess can't say the same for the wife. Hope there are "oh ****" handles for her.

The 4g63 stood the test of time. It's time to move on. I'm sure the mad scientist engineers working on the Evo X engine will amaze us all with it's tremendous power and tunability.
