Another vision of the future from the Japanese manufacturer - this time of a sporting saloon with permanent four-wheel drive, transformed by a turbo engine of around 300 bhp. Projected launch in 2008

but a 2008 launch makes it a 2009 evo?

the premo model with the paddle shift is going to be way more than 35k, they are moving it up to compete with the M3 market

Why would anyone shoot you??? It's your preference. It's money you would spend why not on something you want. From a hardcore standpoint they wouldnt like it. I am sure it will still kick a**

It would be nice if they could give us a little info on this thing. It’s not like the Concept X shown last year was a pure concept like the Camaro concept at Detroit. The X has an established platform, engine and AWD systems (they are adding to it of course) and even if they go to the DSG they are buying that as well and not engineering it. Just doesn’t make sense why this vehicle could be up to 2 years away.

i was at the auto show this last sat. and i was very dissapointed there was no X. they had 2 evos. an MR and the RS. I hate to say it but the Ralliart eclipse was much better looking than those two. The X would have attracted a many more people.

Everyone seems to be hung on the word "refined". The Enzo is refined compared to the F40. No one complains. Snicker. So they make the body stiffer and soften the spring rate and/or shock valving. You get a better ride with no loss in handling ability. Great! It's win/win. They move to more aluminum construction for that sensuous new body. Wonderful! I replaced a set of shocks on my RX7, going from "generic" Tein HA's to a set of rather expensive Aragostas. Similar spring rates but FAR superior handling. The car was less of a bear on the road and handled bumps of all sizes and shapes that would have sent my kidneys packing with the HA's. Rear traction was improved in all driving conditions. Viola, my car became more refined. Is it any less of a car? Surely not! Now if I could just find an add-on cupholder so I don't spill my coffee in the morning....oh wait, that's why I bought the Evo.

I get the whole "issue" with the way the current Evo looks. I surely didn't buy the car because it was pretty and I even had to defend the rear wing just the other night. Aesthetic attraction is a built-in component of our human nature and biology for that matter. I mean how many of us go after the girl beaten with the ugly stick? Not many. Now I know big girls need loving too, but my point is this; given the choice between two women who perform amazingly in bed, which do you choose? Mrs. ugly stick or the Scarlett Johansson look-alike? Sure, the X's looks are up for debate. We can debate anything. But it's going to be tough NOT to improve over the last generation Evo. It'd be self-evident even for armchair aesthetics. Pretty and functional CAN go hand in hand. I think Mitsubishi will get a lot of the new X right and time will tell.

Yes, I am all for the more refined as long as it doesn't cost me weight. As far as the handling well... just go the the S-AWC thread. That says it all. Softer on the highway and sharper steering. It will perform better, there is no doubt in my mind.

I think people will evolve to love it, just like every one loves the new 9. What worries everyone is the possiblility of it being extremely difficult to mod and extract power out of it.
